A very anti people policy enacted by some past governments. The aim was to make education cheap and it became counter productive. Education was bastadized and corruption took its seat. The worst losers were the christians. Prior to that time Christians attended Islamic schools and vice versa. Politicians ruined every thing as they politicized it.

The present LASU campus originally belonged to the Methodists. Infact Methodist boys high school was meant to relocate there in the late 70s from the then school premises on broad street Lagos. Alhaji Jakande's administration stopped it and the so called afternoon sessions in the secondary schools were introduced. He ended up constructing what came to be known as "poultry houses" in the name of school buildings. Lagos state government took over the site and situated LASU there in 1984.

Hopefully Governor Fayemi can have this done quickly and also it can help in improving the quality in our country. Education should not have any religious undertone in a multi religious society like ours otherwise we will remain where we are today.

Juliusmalema:
Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has said his administration will begin  the return of schools to missions in September as part of  the effort to  improve the quality of education in the state.

Fayemi said this  in Ado Ekiti on Friday while hosting the Prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Dr Samuel  Uche.

He  said, “The return of the schools will further stamp the administration’s respect for values.”

He  promised that “the government will work out an efficient and workable model as practised in other states where schools had been transferred  to the missions.”

Fayemi  said his  government would pay the teachers and give the schools  grants  while the missions would take care of administration.

The governor promised to step up the measures put in place by his administration to tackle  farmers-herders clashes  for peace in the state.

He said,  “Anyone caught engaging in any criminal act will be made to face the consequences and addressed as a criminal irrespective of their  tribe.”

The Prelate, who said the purpose of his visit was to pray for the governor and the state, made a  case for the return of some Methodist schools in the state to the mission “so that Godly morals will further be instilled in the pupils.”

Uche described Fayemi as “a good product Ekiti State is lucky to have judging from his antecedents during his first term as governor and as Minister of Solid Minerals Development.”

Fayemi why didn't you make this giant strides when you were a minister??

He made giant strides in the mining sector, basically repositioning it. Also, he was not the minister of education.

Nice moves

Osun state wanted to do this because they didn't have money to renovate schools but some yoruba muslims rejected it and I'm sure aregbesola will always regret why he didn't make that decision.

The Muslims who don't want the yoruba race to be educated will go against this move just like in Osun.

They'll be shouting hijab up and down. Before you know it Fayemi will cower.

The Muslims in Ekiti love education. Sorry, hat can't happen.

The policy worked very well in Anambra under Peter Obi.

Unlike Aregbesola who seized mission schools but could not manage them

I will write off Buhari completely if he appoints Aregbesola as his minister.
A failed governor cannot make a good minister

When it come to infrastructure Aregbesola is the best Governor in the History of Osun State

Stop judging leaders in other region just because of their party affiliate and Rumours

1. I believe a better advice is to tell him to stop judging Aregbesola by the writer's low standards.
2. How can someone whose head is not a trash can alledged that Aregbesola seized missions school

The Tinubu administration was the first in Nigeria to return Private schools (that the FG compulsorily aquired in 1976) to their previous owners in 2003.

Nigeria is a Federal Republic, the idea that all the States should be doing the same things is a military mentality.
Every State should pursue it's destiny in the best ways it can.

During the era of semi-indepedence and in the First Republic,
Western Region introduced Primary School with Pry 1-6 , Secondary Modern Schools , Secondary Grammar Schools and Technical colleges in 1955.

In Northern Region, the system was : Elementary Schools (Pry 1-7)=> Middle Schools=> Provincial Schools.

Nairaland is full of extreme tribaliststs who only see every issue from the prism of 'We Vs Them'

You have the right to hate Aregbesola but you don't have the right to be spreading falsehoods and misinforming the readers on this forum.

The Federal MILITARY Government under Gen Murtalar Muhammed acquired ALL Schools in Nigeria in 1976 to serve as platforms for delivering it's UPE and other educational policies.

Although he failed in other areas, Aregbesola's educational policy reconstructed and renovated Schools in Osun State more than any administration.

The Christians are the light of the world. Everywhere you see Love, peace, sense of humanity, justice and prosperity then just check out the people there. They are called Christians. God always dwell within them.

Wherever you see the opposite above, Muslims are not far away.
