One style of music you say?The soukous? The rumba? What of the cavacha?
American music artistes have won the most Grammy awards.Does that automatically mean America has the best music in the world or the most commercialized music?
South African music isn't even as good as the music from Mali and senegal
Yes, America has constantly had the best music in the world duh? The Elvis Presley's, Michael Jackson's, Beatles etc come on now. If music from mali was that good it definitely would have been recognised by now. Look I'm not saying other countries don't have good music, I'm about fan of Ismael Lo and Youssour n Ndour but some countries are far more prolific and consistent in the production of good music

We have all sort of terrorist but what I said is that we are not at war with any country. It is different.

Denial of history is your business, ask any aged person around you. No matter how much you wish it didn't happen, yet it doesn't change what has happened.

Peace.

P.S.The Beatles are from the UK

If music from South Africa was any good, south African musicians would have had more recognized musicians than Nigeria. Fela and Rex Lawson alone bests whatever south Africa has to offer. Let's not even go contemporary, as afrobeat itself is a Nigerian invention. An invention that is the new craze in souyth Africa.

I know it's been the most commercialised music but it's all been the best for many decades due it's sheer variety of musical styles. That's why I always when people do Afrobeat only and then claim they have the best music in Africa

forget it. We are South Africans always feel lucky to be South Africans. We look at Nigeria and we feel no envy at all, on the contrary we are lucky not to experience your conditions. Why do you always think people are envious of you? Why do you think you're so special?
The fact that you spend so much time on Nairaland trying to initiate superiority debates of South Africa over Nigeria is enough evidence of your inferiority complex.
Go and ask your superstar AKA who is largely unknown in Nigeria... why "Nigerians are always better than South Africans in everything".

Hopefully we'll fix all our critical infrastructure and then your inferiority complex will quadruple.

Whether or not you like it, afrobeat is the new sound of Africa. Everyone wants to copy it. Did you see Beyonce's interview? She said she selected the best Africa had to offer...Afro beat artists...

You need Education. They didn't tell you the full story bro.
So because you can't spot a Nigerian soldier dead on the road means Nigeria didn't help...?

Nigerian government spent alot of money to provide relief
Nigeria sent an annual $5 million dollars(back then it was a very huge money, running up to billions in todays world).

Many south Africans arrived Nigeria and were given accommodation and free education.

This is not a paper talk. My dad had many south Africans in his school then and three were his classmates.

You can throw tantrums and say all sort of things.
I am not of the opinion that South Africans should bow to us but you should not deny us our respect when it comes to history.

Personally, I like SA and would someday want to do a vacation even if for a week. Nevertheless, I hate the xenophobic here and there attacks I hear everyday. If South Africa feels some Nigerians are committing crimes, then persecute them justly, rather than the incessant killing and hate speeches.

Lol, who doesn't know Merriam Makeba, Brenda Fassie, Lucky Dube, Ladysmith Black Mambazo etc? Ladysmith Black Mambazo has even featured in albums by Dolly Parton, Quincy Jones etc. They're by far the most awarded music group in Africa with many Grammy Awards.

The commercialized brand of music being produced by Nigerian artistes today has less to do with afrobeat in its truest form and more to do with the Fuji and juju genres.
So I call it Afro-pop

Africans and our sense of entitlement or should I say this Kimani is simply being stupid?
You're questioning someone on who and who she selects to work with on her project, her f*cking project not yours.
What happened to you selecting other artistes you feel were 'neglected' and record your album too?
That's how Bonang or what's she called ranting Beyonce didn't feature any South African artiste, forming Pan-African on top another man's work.
Idiats!!!
When you realise that there is a need to create harmony even in a diverse groups, then the better things flow. Today,we complain about the fulani taking every important positions, and likewise some complain about the Igbo domination in the soccer scene. It is a problem so long some are marginalised.

did I say you didn't help? I'm saying ultimately it was South Africans themselves who were in the firing line not Nigerians and you should stop this " we saved you" mentality. I'm yet to hear other nations forcing themselves in our historical narrative like you do and it honestly comes across as desperate. Many South Africans did not even fee South Africa during Apartheid not even to nearby countries like Namibia let alone far flung Nigeria so please stop lying, it was our leaders who went into exile to various African countries

We should biw down to you? Exactly the arrogance that I keep alluding to
