Hmm. Welcome to the club sad to say. Been on BP medication for 20 years +.
Dont sleep and have to browse or watch TV until I pass out. Even drink but cannot sleep. Take Valium and have to wait to pass out but wake up after 2hrs.
I guess I worry too much. Think too much over things others will sleep about.
The buhari next level has also made it worse thinking of providing for family. School fees etc. Pikin Wan go uni for UK at 460 naira per £ and they are 3. Lol.
My advice is just think less. Try to stay awake all day and not take a nap day time. Focus on work.
If you are married, lay your head on your wife's tommy and get her to scratch your back. All the mosquito bites etc and I bet you, you will pass out in no time. Lol. That is my natural sleeping medication grin
I sent you a message on your signature chat me up let me give you a solution for your HBP

Try to take ginger garlic drink... It is a great combo for pains. The pain might be as a result of muscle spasm. Read it up and see if it corresponds with what’s wrong with you.

thanks will do

Go to general hospital. They have specialist for any ailment.

I once had this exact symptoms & went there. They did the first test blood sugar & pressure..

They found out my BP was high & recommended other test. i was given drugs for the bp & now its all gone.

The wait time is always long & fustrating, so u might want to go as early as 6am to see a doctor early..

I wish u good luck & quick recovery!

Thanks dear. But the neurologist I saw was initially was actually from the general hospital.

Why not solve one problem completely before fixing another?

I had this "not being able to sleep" issue around 2012 and i decided to try Horlicks tea. Prepare warm and drink.

Infact, i turned it into my regular drink and i was able to sleep.

Most of those sleeping tabs are killers.

I've attached a pix of the 2 common brands you will find here in Nigeria.

But please stop all this bunch of drugs u are using o before those fellas turn u into aro.

And u are even supposed to take blood tonic when u finished taking that antibiotic.

Meanwhile, check your blood pressure as someone suggested above.

Thanks

It is spiritual. The Lord can heal you if you trust him but you must first give your life to Jesus if you haven't done so.

Then commit yourself to a Christ believing Church.

I can pray for you if you believe but only after you are sure you have sincerely given your life to Christ.

A woman in a church I pastored years back had a similar problem which persisted for over two years until she joined the church and committed her life to Christ. She never even mentioned her problems to me but I noticed she didn't miss any church service including weekly activities.

On a prayer service day, I gave a word of knowledge that a woman here is being healed of ulcer. Two days later she gave her testimony that her ulcer was gone and in addition, she could sleep without pills for hours. She also couldn't come out when it's sunny because water will drip from her eyes. She also got healed of that.

Miracles are real and it is what you need. God is still in the business of healing and your case will not be different if you only believe.

I believe. Thanks

Do you work on computers or bend your neck a lot to look at your phone? You may need an MRI of the neck for proper diagnosis. Leave your contact and I will get in touch. I had something similar recently.

My job doesn't involve bending the neck. The neck pain started after the sleeplessness. I am doing an MRI next week.

Good evening good people. I am hoping I will get some help here.
Pls this will be a bit a long. I beg you to read. So you can understand better.

My problem started last year April (2018). I was diagnosed with typhoid and malaria. I was started on a course of treatment that involves anti malaria and an antibiotics (azithromycin). I noticed the quality of my sleep was dropping after taking the antibiotic for 2 days. My instincts was that it was the medicine. I eventually stopped taking it but by then my sleep have become badly affected. I woke up a Sunday morning after taking some drinks the previous night at a wedding with one severe type of headache ( I started the antibiotics on Thursday, took on Friday and missed it that Saturday) I continued that Sunday morning. So I eventually stopped all medicine and consulted a doctor friend. By then I had gone two nights with little or no sleep. He prescribed some drugs that was meant to induce sleep and even increased the dosage yet I still couldn't sleep.

Meanwhile before then, I am someone who could be called a sleeper. I can sleep at anytime without stress. I even take naps here and there in my office. So it was strange.

I eventually went to some hospitals and their treatment involved giving me sleep medicines and sometimes it could help me get very little amount of sleep and then it will make me feel very groggy and heavily fatigued. By this time a weird sensation have developed in the left side of my back head (this pain doesn't come and go... It is permanent). After spending some huge amounts I wasn't getting relief until I went to a neurologist. He first suspended all the sleep medications and started giving me amitriptyline 5mg every night ( after few days I started feeling better and had some deep sleep) but still the problem wasn't gone ( head pain and stiff neck).

I was paying about 30k monthly at the neurologists. It wasn't sustainable and I eventually stopped and decided to take my fate in my own hands. I eventually stopped taking any medication for sleep last November.

Between then and now, I have had some good nights where I slept very deeply and nights when I struggled. I have gone like 2 weeks without sleep issues. But still the pain in the back of the head and neck still persist.

Just yesterday I went to consult another gp and his diagnosis was that it was the poor sleep that is causing the pain in the head and neck. But I still find it difficult to believe. I will be having a video session with an Indian neurologist tommorow and I hope he will make a different diagnosis.

My coming here is to know if anyone have had an experience with my case and I would like to know how they solved their problem.

Thank you.

Good day OP.
Experienced similar issue when I was treated of typhoid and malaria some years back. Its a neurological problem caused by the side effect of cyprofloxacin; an antibiotic. It occurs in very few number of patients.
I booked an appointed with Dr. Awolobi from AKTH, Kano and was okay after the drugs he prescribed. Should your appointment with an Indian doctor fail to yield positive result which I pray it does, kindly visit Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano and ask of Dr. Awolobi; a neurologist.
Speedy recovery I whish you.

Have same issues. It could be caused by high blood pressure. So the first thing the doctors will check is your blood pressure. My case wasn't blood pressure, after sometime a part of my neck started to swell, i thought it was mumps, took antibiotics and it became worse, the swell even moved to a slightly different location.

A man that hawks soap around were i used to stay gave me herbal ointment and the thing burst open and an unusual amount of puss came out. I was temporarily relieved. After 2 years the neck pain and headache started after that the swelling occurred. The swelling is a bit deceptive, it may not be noticed by many it just makes your neck look bigger.

Started treatments again, went to a specialist clinic and they said they would surgically operate on my neck. I wasn't comfortable with the idea. At last i settled for treatment with an akwa ibom woman she said it was poison sent to me. I was given herbs to drink and the swollen part of my neck was heated with hot sand. After a few weeks the swelling became like a boil and one day the woman burst the swelling and brought out some thing that looks like a dead worm.

I felt relieved after that episode, but after a few weeks the neck pains started. I was sitting in front of my computer and i had a taught, "why not try and google out your problem." With the symptoms bothering me and the information from my herbal experience with the Akwa Ibom woman i started googling.

I came across an illness called Micro Filaria and i immediately took permission from the office went to a dianostics lab and demanded for a microfilaria test, the lady asked me if i had a doctors note i said no, i saw it on the internet and no one was going to deter me from taking the test. She agreed and i was tested to have micro filaria.

I started treatment immediately, i was advised to reduce fatty foods that the worms live on fat and was given prescriptions. I still take the drugs, but the neck pains and headaches has reduced drastically and i am no more afraid. I am still plump planning to reduce wait soon to help make treatment more effective. Remember someone can have this disease even without a swollen neck, some people may discover that their necks are a bit fatter and some persons are just normal. Fortunately for me i had a hint so i had a direction to go after many test and money spent for several medical examination like cancer and tuberculosis.

Micro Filaria Takes many forms but the type that affected me is known as Calaber Swelling. You can google it out. I thank God for his grace i don't know what is wrong with you but i just feel i should share my personal experience. I really hope it is something minor.

the did you continue the bp drugs after treatment... please

No.. i did not! But it depends on each individual.
High Blood Pressure is said to be a life long thing, for some people you have to continue the treatment. I think for older people, It used to be 40 & above, but now lot of young people are having high BP. You see people in their early 30's.

In my case, i had to change some things. Stopped taking salt as a whole or minimized in food, Excersing at least 1 hour daily (Get a jump rope if u cant sign up at the gym.. it's easy to skip anywhere anytime), Getting enough sleep.
I had to buy a BP monitor; A small machine used to read blood pressure. I use it to monitor my body 3 times a week.

It has not gone up again since then. If it does, i have to contact the hospital again or start taking drugs again.
It is best to see your doctor for proper reccomendation.

Hmm, my dear 80% of Nairalanders may not understand what you are going through, my earnest prayer for them is that they should not understand it. I can be in the best position to further explain to others what you passing because i went through the same circle 2017 -2014 when God fully healed me, mine started just as yours, i had malaria and typhoid, went to the hospital for treatment along the lane discovered i could no longer sleep................ stayed in a range of complete one month without dozing off, used everything i can name, visited all kinds of specialist, along the lane, i started thinking suicidal. Yes, the reason why you are having all those persistent pains is as a result of lack of sleep.... Sleep on it self is a healing agent so when you dont sleep, how will healing takes place. In all my dear, i layed everything at the feet of Jesus asked him to deal with me which ever way He pleases. I went religious after exhausting every available medical solution to that. I will advice you stop sedatives all kind of sedatives and go Natural. during the cause of my religion ex-capped, i met a pastor explain my predicament to him, he invited me to a vigil at the place of the vigil i dozed off, na so one mumu usher come de hit me to stand up, na the pastor shout for the Usher to leave me, na so church turn de look pastor in surprise. but all in all i am healed now. now even if i feel i want to have all the weekend for sleep the highest i will take is half a tablet of Puritoon that's all.

you're right, had the exact problem on 2001, was seriously down with acute malaria and enteric fever, went to blood culture and was diagnosed with septicaemia. I had all the OP symptoms but mine was more severe than his. I suffered all his symptoms including dizziness and severe fatigue. I took all the antibiotics in the world till one man from ebonyi state gave me one leave I took with boil garri and that was the end. till today I never had the symptoms again.

Thnk God. Its hard to detect such septicemia bcoz it can hav symtom of many disease, most pple die of it witout knowing it, bcoz this days bacteria, fungi, parasites are getting resistant to most antibiotics, and if not the right antibiotic is taken, even after treatment the sickness will re-occur before you know it spreads to all over the body nd can lead to life threatnin illness or even death. I suggest that doctrs to do culture nd blood test first b4 putting patients on random antibiotic.

Did you do any MRI or CT of head and neck? I suspect some toticolis of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. Go for a massage of the neck and also take some muscle relaxant like diazepam.

I had done a CT of the Occipital last year. It all checked out. I will be having an MRI next week. Many tnx bro.
