The constitution of Nigeria, APC, PDP and other part's constitution depicts that any candidate from any region can contest for a primary election under his party, to emerge as the flag bearer for the general polls. Well, El-Rufai and northerners like him can easily win legally required 25% of votes in 2/3 of the 36 states to become president. No southern candidate can win that unless north is tired of ruling Nigeria.

The northern military dictators rigged Nigeria's political structure and process to favour El-Rufai's Northern region, by creating 19 states and Abuja in one northern region. They created only 17 states in the two southern regions.

Worse is that southern politicians don't seem to know that land mass or population is not used as criterion to create new federating units like states, in a country originally brought together from many different regions.

So enjoy Nigeria, El-Rufai and his northern king makers.
