I'm totally aware the OP has apologized for his ignorance. Now  most of you guys say they need it for booking of appointments. That's just one of the features/benefits, but not the main reason of having a website. The main reason is to get more customers online, believe it or not Nigerians are now using Google to search for some of these things. And having your website show up on Google when somebody does a search for your particular type of business will have a dramatic impact on that business.

Or let's say they decide to run some sort of ad on Facebook, having a landing page (website) where to convert the visitor into a paying client does help too.

And overall, when you tell somebody about your business, the next thing they'll ask for is your website to get more information.

I'm looking forward to a day when Mile-12 market women will start demanding for websites for their businesses, and I sincerely hope you'll be able to provide this and not question them what they need it for.

What I had in mind is something like a Nigerian brothel portal where you search for what you want based on criteria like tall, short, dark, big this, big that, small this, small that. Where you can also search based on your budget for the night.

I do know that softwares run on the web and some desktop, even mobile and others. I made that statement to make him understand that every one's role is unique! I used software in the context i think he understood(Desktop based) so don't even try to tell me what i know!

For someone who claims to design websites you have no vision. I feel the man made a big mistake giving you this job because you are not seeing what he's seeing. Even if its unheard of is it a crime to be a pacesetter? Do that man a favor and return the contract. Personally i'm into fashion and its a shame i have to go to foreign websites just to get hairstyles and dress styles if only our hair stylists and fashion designers will wake up to the times instead of being as myopic as u are

I dismissed that by pointing out that a static website ddesigner, is not a software developer. A software is a program that is run, by computer instructions(Programmatic ones. Not HTML).

Until one uses a Programming language for a website, he has not built a software/application.
