If the Northerner dont like JEG and they want Northern Presidency why not team behind Nuhu Ribadu or Col Umar. The like of Adamu Ciroma and co are fighting to keep their crumbling finanacial dynasty. Instead of fighting for the enlightment and emancipation of their massess, they are busy pursuning fruitless ambition. I have being to more than five state in the North Niger, Kaduna, Bauchi, Kano, Jigawa, Nasarawa.

There is no reflection of long hold on to power. The people are poor, most of them are living from hand to mouth. Infact they are just existing they are not living at all. friends I dont care who hold power as long as I have freedom to leave, to religion and labour

1. How is Buhari funding his campaign Buhari has been contesting the presidency since 2003 and has spent some fortunes running campaigns all over the country. Running campaign for a councillorship election in Nigeria could cost you almost what a civil servant will earn working for 35years! We need to know how the campaign of a man who is reputed by many as being "incorruptible" has been funded so far.

Buhari's campaign has not been known to be flamboyant. In fact, some analysts have identified limited campaign funds as one of his biggest obstacle. Secondly, it is party, not candidate, that does more of teh funding after clinching the ticket. You should also know that Buhari's active campaigns usually starts/started after clinching party ticket. Of all the frontline aspirants today, Buhari is the least visible in terms of campaign. Where you see him are newspaper interviews and visits that make news headlines. I personally have not seen a single poster or billboard on Buhari. And a quick question: can you explain same for GEJ, whose campaign is so far the most flamboyant.

2. Has Buhari ever given account of his stewardship as the Chairman of PTF under Abacha where corruption in public offices was huge? Perhaps he has not been investigated in that light and so has not been found out to be corrupt.
Your second sentence answers the question raised in the first sentence. If there is anything suspicious, let them investigate.

That said, I have learnt not to give 100% trust to any political personality in Nigeria, but until something is categorically brought up against him, I remain convinced that he, alongside Ribadu, are the ones that can go far in tackling corruption and mass indiscipline in Nigeria.

JARUS:   PLS READ THIS

FINALLY, BUHARI HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE CORRUPT

Shagari’s regime (1979-1983), incurred Buhari’s wrath when it decided to investigate the US$2.8 billion that disappeared from the Midland Bank, London account of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, (NNPC), during General Obasanjo’s era as military head of state that preceded Shagari’s.  Dr. Olusola Saraki, Turaki of Ilorin, was the majority party leader of the Senate at the time and he headed the Senate Committee set up to trace the stolen money after some three years of clamour for such an investigation by members of the civil society.  The money was traced to the Midland Bank London branch fixed account of Buhari, Obasanjo’s appointee as military head of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.  The Committee’s report was presented to the Senate during the tail end of Shagari’s regime in 1983, so the House decided to deal with the matter soon after the 1983 general elections.

The attempt at civilian-to-civilian transition provided the fillip for mayhem at the time.  The elections were marred by massive rigging because incumbent political office holders were refusing to slacken their stranglehold on Nigeria Plc., mortgaged as the leaders private property. On the 31st December, 1983, Buhari struck under the cover of the political commotion that trailed the presidential election results. Buhari generally had no agenda for leadership but vendetta against those he called critics and rabble-rousers.  Buhari did not see any moral wrong in his conversion of our oil money into his personal use.  Rather he railed at the press and what he described as the self-righteous sections of the country for making a big deal out of the issue. He locked up without trial, politicians and critics including Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, notorious for clamouring for the exposure of the oil money rogue.  Satire saved my neck at the time.  Vera Ifudu, who was an NTA reporter then, was sacked through his prodding as military ruler, for reporting what Dr. Olusola Saraki had told her in an interview about how the missing money was traced to Buhari’s account at a Midland Bank London branch.  Vera eventually won her case of wrongful dismissal in court against the NTA and was financially compensated.

Abacha rehabilitated Buhari with the chairmanship of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) before he (Abacha) died in 1998.  When Obasanjo returned to power in May 1999 as civilian president, he found that over 2.5 billion naira had not been properly accounted for in the PTF and that there was not much on the ground to show for the colossal expenditure the agency was claiming. On the day Obasanjo announced the scrapping of the PTF, a non-staff brother-in-law of the boss, allegedly serving as his conduit on some PTF projects, died suddenly from what appeared to be heart failure.  Haruna Adamu, who was appointed by Obasanjo to investigate the PTF before finally consigning it to the dung heap, allegedly quickly pocketed one hundred million naira of PTF’s money before operating table could be set up for him, thus forcing Obasanjo to hurriedly close the place down without further investigations.  Buhari has been trying desperately since to return to power, perhaps to get a chance to shred the PTF documents?

the so called Jonathan weakness has eventually taken a life of its own on this blog, ours is a country where all sorts of banal sentiments and characters flourish,bt i think pple shd try to differentiate btw intellectual clumsiness, flippant character and dictatorship, president Obama is a very refined gentleman but yet he asserts his positions e.g is his stand on not removing taxes for the very rich and most recently his position on china during his press conference after G20,thats what a leader shd be,he shd have clarity of thoughts and unpararrelled intellectual soundness, smartness etc,bt unfortunately this is a fundamental deficit in jonathan,bt instead of his supporters adress this glaring defect, they resort to all sorts of frivolities.very painful although

On a platform where every vote counts, and all votes could be accounted for, i don't see GEJ winning a council primary in his ward. Its in Nigeria everything goes. When the issue of GEJ winning the presidential primaries come into play, i cant see him to be a formidable force. Since the shallow minded ones have started looking at this matter with their already blurred spiritual eye, they all think GEJ is the anointed fellow. Seeing the path he followed right from being the deputy governor, to governor and finally presidency, all i could see is that trully the name of a man really matters. But if he thinks his name will take him far, why not allow fate decides his path come 2011 election.

Maybe afterall, his name only allow him to get to the highest position in the country without getting any votes from a single nigerian, and after that let him step aside or even let the race to be free and fair for all instead of do-or-die tactics

Mr. Jonathan doesn't have a marshalled plan for this country. He spends and thinks on impulse and lenient with criminals. We have better Candidates in this beloved country.
Re: Jonathan's Serial Losses by chizillar(m): 9:23am On Nov 13, 2010
As at the moment, looting and stashing of all our wealth is going on massively. The National assembly, House of rep. public officers to mention but a few. This has strip jumped to massive level under Jonathan. EFCC is no longer daring and threatened as before. MAIN REASON: THESE OFFICE HOLDERS MERELY SEE HIM AS WEAK. Stop making noise here as more people has gone to stash their own share before this weak president tenure expires.

Indeed. In the thread below , It is "very painful" to see some defend Jonathan's undemocratic support of a man a competent Court has declared an election rigger !! Next minute we will be assuaged with noise of how Jonathan is a "democrat" when all we see from him , right from his bully-boy rigging antics at the Ekiti Guber in 2009, is undemocratic behaviour . There is no doubt that Jonathan will bring about the destruction of Nigeria because , right now , good or bad , we need a man with very strong convictions . Their are now to many criminals in leadership positions . They cannot and will not be pacified . They must be fought bravely by a sagacious, resolute and brave individual who deserves the position of President enough to understand the potency and extent of his own power to do what is best for Nigeria. We don't need a President that will be bullied by the likes of Gbenga Daniel and Alao Akala so that Nigerians continue to face hardship caused by the deliberate wrongdoing of hardened misrulers who have usurped power .

Xstrata,

I think you are very young! Since when did Ciroma and co become a progressive in this country?? Does it not seem disgusting and disappointing to you that a man of Ciroma's calibre and age is the one at the fore-front of ethnicity, zoning and sectional sentiments??

What decorum is in calling for the resignation of the President over a breach of security allegedly blamed on Northen political hawks?? What decorum is in the very many incitive statements credited to Ciroma since this zoning nonsense started.

If you have not been born way back to see the antecedents of Ciroma and his Fulani masters in this country, then grab a book of history and learn.
