No you got it wrong here . Beat music is a music genre developed in the 60's by some british musicians its a diffusion of doo wop , rock and roll and skittle . Fela did beat music but with african instrument and jazz (which is also "black" music) and named it Afro - beat . Shina peter's use of afro is quite different before you can throw afro in front of something there has to be a western / asian or maybe martian   version .
