Under normal circumstances, Oshiomhole cannot emerge as a local government councilor. The majority of Nigeria intellectuals that were suppose to be running the affairs of the country have overstayed abroad and their continued absence have created that vacuum for political thugs to take over the helm of affairs in the country. Although, in recent times, some of them have returned to their country of birth but the challenges they face due to the long absence from the country are overwhelming.
