The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has celebrated former President Goodluck Jonathan on his 62nd birthday.

The party in a tweet on Wednesday prayed for ‘guidance’ as Mr Jonathan continues to “contribute to the stability of democracy” in the country and beyond.

“@GEJonathan At 62: Your Excellency Sir, we thank God for the gift of life, divine wisdom and direction on this special day of your 62nd birthday. We pray for God’s guidance as you continue to contribute to the stability of Democracy in Nigeria and beyond. Congratulations! ���” the tweet read.

PDP lost Bayelsa governorship election held on November 16 to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

David Lyon of the APC won the election after polling 352,552 votes to defeat his closest rival, Duoye Diri of PDP, who scored 143,172 votes.

It is believed that the rift between outgoing Governor Seriake Dickson and Jonathan might have contributed to the loss of the oil-rich state to the ruling party.

Mr Dickson, however, continues to deny allegations of a rift between him and the nation’s former first citizen.

“Jonathan remains my oga and I respect him, but there are lots of efforts by certain interest to create a rift between us, there is no politician that has been there for the former president than me,” Dickson said on Tuesday.

Jonathan is like that proverbial tick on the very dirty balls of the party. If you strike out violently at it, you'd end up hurting no one but yourself. grin

Best you can do is cajole and persuade it to gradually get off the balls, and then pulverise it if you can before it flees. grin

GEJ is an honourable man who had to put the welfare of Bayelsans above party politics.

Diri is just so uninspiring, always looking like he has nothing to offer, really.

But Lyon on the other hand looks bright, inspiring and like he has got ideas of his own.

GEJ is one of a kind.

It wouldn't have made any difference if he supports Lyon or not, the guy was already on his way to victory right from when he clinched the APCs ticket.

Lyon wouldn't have defeated Timi Alaibe even with rigging. Alaibe is extremely popular with the youth and even ex-militants. Dickson is a big fool, Jonathan brought him from House of Reps and made him governor against big powers in the state but he turned around to disrespect him.

Dickson will be arrested after his tenure and no one will come forward to plead on his behalf

The first time i went yo bayelsa,i thought it will be like akwa ibom or ph but i was shocked at its overwhelming underdevelopment.dickson received 1 trillion naira in 8 years but he did little or nothing.there was nobody pdp could have brought that would defeat apc.it was the time of apc to take over
