Word has it that he broke and carted away all the money from the central bank when Asaba fell during the civil war; in addition it is alleged he also had many properties in Kano (along Galadima Rd) being fronted for him. Furthermore, Kano State government had built a beautiful house for his family (after his death) along Ahmadu Bello way, which they apparently don't even need because it had since remained empty and unused till date - indicating their relative high degree of affluence. |
