If you didn't buy akube in 2019, you need to do special Thanksgiving to Jehovah

There should be a body that will sanction the custom official who were not competent enough to get the smugglers before it entered the market

Their major function is to check smuggling not cease smuggled goods in the market

The smugglers and criminal traders ruined the textile industry.

Is it the traders that told the useless leaders not to have good policies to favour the manufacturing sector... those useless and evil spirits in human form..

I don't just understand this government and her irrational actions, firstly, these bales of clothes came into the country through borders but rather than sanction and possibly demote erring custom and immigration officers, they went about bungling shops of traders.
Now let even leave how the clothes came in aside, will the government claim innocence that these secondhand clothes are the solace of most Nigerians? So, why make life more difficult than it already is for the citizens at all cost; which obviously is what this seizures will cause on both sides of the traders and customers.

[s]Fair enough.
Most of the traders will get there their goods back then.

The owners should simply come up with the legimate documents on these imported goods, and get their goods back.....simple!

We hope they act fast enough before the bales grow wings[/s].

They are technically contrabands, but the same customs take money from importers to turn a blind eye at the entry points. It is double edged sword, banning will boost indigenous fashion industry, but with no concrete plan or a better alternative for the people that depend on it for livelihood, it will create more destitution.

when a fool is silent he might be thought of as wise.. Try to be silent sometimes and not jump to support any rubbish from the government.

Tell me do you know how many families has just been affected by this? If the economy was OK, who would be buying "second hand" clothes?

Instead of focusing on curing the problem, they face the symptom

The middle and poor class are doing well, the last time I went to Yaba, to sew buy and sew curtains.
Igbo guys who are not weak to work, come and see them sewing sometimes 500,000 curtains a day! Igbo guys can work like machines! Chai!

Mehn these men can sew fast and well shocked
Any they have division of labour too. The ones who are perfect on fixing the recent design in curtains is fixing it with machines and hands. I was like wow!
So please don't even start, they are making money in that tejuosho market and it's neat and orderly with 24 hours light.

Also banning of okrika will give room for tailors to have more customers and work to do.

It's a good development..i concur to it.

In this government if you are not lazy and u have a skill which speaks well of you, you will live comfortably
Government do well on that aspect!

When i said one could find merchandise at fair prices, i didn't exclusively mean "tailored clothes or curtains" which are delivered at lightning speed by ibo boys like you mentioned.
I meant other goods like leather belts, shoes, perfumes, jewelry etc.

so basically you are saying, one a thief has successfully committed a crime and left the scene, his sins are forgiven?

anyway the answer to your question is ....... waiting for them at the market...shebi they will want to sell the smuggled items? Why chase them up and down the border when you know their shop?
so you are in support of this right? Humans are just bunch of wicked ppl.... You can provide job road or even power for your ppl and most ppl buy second hand clothing and yet you attack them....This Government is wicked in 1983 and he is also still wicked in 2019... This is not leadership

This is nothing but daylight robbery from supposed government officials. They will steal this bales of clothes and share it amongst themselves, this is pure wickedness.
Why did they have to break into peoples shops while they were not around and steal their goods for their own failure to act at the boarders?
This type of impunity occurs because we have a docile population who will just look away cos it doesn't concern them while the islamists keep doing a number on them.
Have we heard that the same custom who seem to be hyperactive down south have seized any goods up north? Or don't they sell okirika or banned goods down there

It is always in the South that all these happens, come to the North as see how Northerners are going about their own trading, even in foreign Rice, without any problem.
Anyway, it is for a reason, that Nigeria may break apart sooner than expected because it cant just continue this way.

This is what l ask people!
These Smugggled Rice and Cloths were not dropped from the Sky, they passed through the borders, with thousands of Customs men/Women on duty. .
Why are we paying Customs Officers, to collect Bribes at the Border and allow this goods inside the country, only to them turn around and start breaking into people's shop, to sieze the same goods?

Nigerians must revolt against these nonsense.
If the Customs do their duty at the borders, we wont have all this smuggled goods inside the country but Buhari and that Col Alli are not focusing on the Customs Officers that cooolect Bribes at the borders, in their warped war on smuggling but are just fixated on making Nigerians, suffering poor people, miserable all day long.
This is not Governance but TYRANY
