In my opinion Makinde should have worked with the mones he met on ground instead of firing them. I am sure he could have even gotten most of not all of them to defect. The headache that comes with removing them is just not worth it, not to mention the endless litigation.
Why did Ajimobi work the ones he met ??

Xisnin:

That is where his power ends.
Let him head to the court since he has the law behind him.
I expected the elected chairmen to have gone to court since their sacking.

This is a state affair and Malami shouldn't even be involved at all and any average
lawyer could win the case for the dismissed chairmen.

Ajimobi didn't remember the illegality of his caretaker men until 1 year to the expiration of his tenure.
All these issues of using chairmen as pawns
will disappear when there is a real separation of state and local government accounts.
The elected chairmen have headed to court quite alright but this is Nigeria where the governor can connive with judges to stall the case for a very long time.

It's on record. Ajimobi allowed the chairmen he met there to finish their tenures before putting his own caretaker chairmen.

I don't remember the circumstance on ground when Ajimobi took over in 2011, but in Makinde's case the courts have ruled that his action of sacking the chairmen was against the law. He is the governor and has done what he deemed fit in his judgement but his action may be illegal. undecided

No one is conniving with any judge.
Any case that is not time-limited gets delayed in Nigeria.
Go to any prison to hear horror stories of those awaiting trial even when no one is
interested enough to connive with judges in their case.

As I said, this is not Malami's tuff, he is being recruited to do the job of Oyo APC for them.
Fortunately, his pronouncements are not orders but mere suggestions.

Well, Dapo initially removed them when he first got into office but was smart enough to later reinstate them.

Audio Governor who did all this:

In the area of education, which is the foundation for sustainable development, he has ensured an upward review of the education budgetary allocation from about three per cent by my predecessor to 10% in the 2019 budget cycle; donated his salary for the next four years to the Oyo State Teachers’ Pension Fund in fulfilment of my campaign promise; payment of N1.4bn as gratuity to about 1,000 teachers who retired between 2010 and 2012; cancellation of the N3,000 school fees for senior secondary school students, to encourage the enrolment of some of the 400,000 out-of-school children in Oyo State; abolition of entrance examination fees from Primary School to Junior Secondary School 1, which led to an unprecedented large turnout of pupils to write the entrance examinations; procurement of over two million exercise books for over 450,000 pupils in Oyo State public primary and secondary schools; inauguration of panels to look into the issues affecting the smooth running of Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa, and Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki; and provision of the law school students’ bursary to the unprecedented amount of N500,000. The bursary payment had been suspended since 2012.

And that was just in his first 6 weeks in office.

Meanwhile dulla.rdinho has turned Nigeria into a den of extreme poverty and insecurity but you are chopping his sh.it as if it is suya.

Audio governor has no choice. The IGP will simply order the CP to send police offers to escort the elected LG officers back to the council.

The sweetest thing is that as a result of NFIU, caretaker chairmen have no access to LG funds. They've been borrowing to sustain themselves. cheesy

Malami should just encourage the parties concerned to go to court.

Malami should be clear in his statementd, people would misconstrue his advise as judgement which only a court can order given his position.
There is already a case law(judicial precedent) to that effect from the supreme court. If the Governors can't abide by this then the FG should start dissolving the State Government and appointing caretaker committees. Like they say, what is good for the goose is also good for the g.........

Are governors allowed to sack local government chairmen? Isn't it same as a president sacking a governor? Only in Nigeria will a governor attempt to sack a king instead of the governor to report to the king. In Nigeria King's report to local government chairmen. Thank God none of my kids are born in Nigeria. Military rule is better than what we have now

You know nothing about government.

Let me educate you a little. Don't worry, I won't charge you anything. It's free.

Nigeria is a republic. This is not a kingdom and we are not practising monarchical system of government. So don't expect a governor to report to a traditional king. It's the other way round as specified by the constitution which created the republican system of government we operate.

I hope you learn from this.

Not only in oyo state, the constituted authority in kwara had also sacked the elected chairmen and had some DPM to man the LGA's.
Sometimes,I wonder how some people would blame other others for something and still display the same behavior themselves.
