The Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF) has advanced reasons why it carried out the bombing of three oil facilities in Delta state.

Led by John Togo, the group explained that the bombings were carried out to protest the refusal of the Federal Government to convene a post-amnesty conference of aggrieved militants and afford the NDLF the opportunity to go into negotiation.

The spokesman of NDLF, Capt Mark Anthony in a statement said the three attacks carried out on Friday from the Israel Barracks with the aid of DCP/GPRS wireless bombing remote operation within a space of 53 minutes affected Alero flow station, Abiteye flow station and Dibi oil field respectively, belonging to AGIP and Chevron multinationals company.

It said its leadership has been frustrated in its efforts to surrender, adding that if the government is sincere in its desire to enthrone peace in the region that it should order the withdrawal of troops from Ayakoromor community. NDLF warned that the bombing of the three oil facilities is a warning signal as it has planted bombs across oil facilities ready for detonation within the next one month.

While pledging total support for the political ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan, it cautioned Northern leaders on their utterances, stressing that the group would ensure they get a disastrous reaction if anything happens to Jonathan.

The statement reads in part: “NDLF effort to come out from the creeks and surrender arms was thwarted with federal troops barricading all routes and we cannot come through the lion’s mouth in the name of surrendering to risk our lives. So, if government is sincere for a dialogue, it should withdraw the soldiers around Ayakoromor and environs and NDLF will faithfully comply with its earlier promises of disarmament for peace to reign.

Our current plight of suffering in the swampy creeks of Niger Delta was caused by people like IBB and other northern politicians whose bad leadership is trailing the Niger Delta communities with bloods on the rivers as the only reward to the Niger Delta communities, instead of development.

Nobody should use our current violent posture as against President Goodluck Jonathan as he was not the cause of our plight and it is not directed to him. But our fight is against the fraudulent Nigerian government for a better change of the lives and communities of the oil bearing communities in Niger Delta”, the group said of our dear State.”

Actually confusing, but funny in the part of the military. U were asked to look 4 the militants in their hide-outs in the forest/creeks only to destroy law abiding citizens' residence. i think gej didn't ask the military to destroy ayakoromo, the militants beleive in gej as i understand them

So they have to attack oil facilities to get government's attention - John Togo is a pinhead. What if youth from every region attack government facilities to sought attention?

Federal government have to do something about this before it become a pattern - when it does form a pattern and spring to every corner of Nigeria it would appear like the case of kidnapping which was started by these goons by the way.

They are just after their own pockets, the military that was sent there to get them left their primary assignment and proceeded to loot, destroy & kill innocent citizens.
