I'm not really defending her. More attacking the NYSC. Basically, if you have a high-paying job abroad but would like to return to Nigeria someday for political reasons, then you must serve in NYSC and thus effectively give up a lot of money. Somehow this seems wrong to me.

Well, it mit just be true, after all most corpers arrange with their zonal inspectors and (or) their local government inspectors to take their allowances and then they dissapear after the orientation camp, only to reappear on passing out parade to collect their discharge certificate.During that period of their disappearance,they enguage in other activities like for instance, masters programme of most commonly, work fulltime( not as corpers). So this mit just be the case with this iwu lady.

NYSC has long outlived its purpose in a country where Govt cannot guarantee the safety and security of its corpers. Imagine corpers overseeing polling booths where thugs come with guns to snatch ballot boxes. Or the many corpers who lost their lives or dignity after being raped or killed in religious or Niger Delta clashes.

If Govt doesn't want more NYSC cheats, they should make it a safer and more rewarding experience.

Interesting. That option doesn't sound too bad. You lose at most a month out of your working year. I wouldn't mind giving Nigeria a month of unpaid/underpaid labor, but a year is too much.
