About 30 years after leaving office as governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, yesterday picked the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), the same party that brought him to power in 1979. He was unanimously endorsed during the PRP convention which was held yesterday at the Murtala Muhamed Square, Kaduna.

The convention attracted delegates of the party, mostly peasants and aged politicians from all the 23 local government areas of the state. Other party leaders and delegates from other parts of the country were also in attendance to give moral and solidarity support to Musa. In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Musa said he was staging a come-back to Kaduna political landscape as governor, in order to save the people from the present level of poverty and hunger which was brought by lack of good governance and high level of corruption.

He further said “age is no barrier to enthroning good governance and saving the population from the present history of poor leadership. At the age of 75, I feel I can contribute better to the growth of Kaduna State than ever before.

“I encourage any member of our party to rise up to the occasion to save our country from the present level of poverty, hunger and poor governance that have pervaded the nation and Kaduna State, age is no barrier for the interest to serve the people. “We are going to double our achievement in Kaduna State if we come to power again , much more than we did during the second republic. It is time to let those that have no business in moving the state forward to know that they should get ready to quit their position because the masses are craving for the development of the state and the nation as a whole.

“If given the second chance to rule the state in 2011, the first thing I will do is to build on the peace in Kaduna. Because without peace, there is no way we can make any progress. During our time, the Second Republic, we did everything to maintain peace in Kaduna State and we did so successfully. Things I know are now worse than they are during the Second Republic. We are now faced with more serious challenges,” he said
