kikero: If you break up and become an independent sovereign country, another bigger country cannot come and fight you because you will join the UN. No country has the constitutional right to fight another sovereign country recognized by the UN, just to get control of that countries resources, thats what is called war of aggression which is criminal. A country where nothing works is not going to be productive. Nigeria does not and it doesn't work because they people Lugard brought in 1914 have not learnt to see themselves as one after 106 years. Thats enough time to admit that the union has failed and we all return as we were before Lugard came 1 Like |

BreconHills:This highly oversimplified ethnic map is why both the amalgamation was a bad idea and the current proposal of breaking up along ethnic lines will be a massive challenge. We could either be stable yet unfriendly with each other like in Eastern Europe or we could be a chaotic abomination like South Sudan. 1 Like

Kekereekun123: They are not progressing, that's why Europe fought two brutal world wars and numerous civil wars in the Balkan to break Yugoslavia and the Austria-Hungarian empire. India, Bangladesh, Russia, and Yugoslavia have all separated. We need to face the truth Nigeria as one nation is not a feasible project, separation is inevitable. 2 Likes |

Kenplay:You lack basic comprehension I am not talking about amalgamation I am talking about Independence Amalgamation was done in 1914 no doubt Zik was a small boy then But the worst mistake happened in 1960 when Nigeria was about to become an Independent nation and Zik played a very huge role in but failed to think beyond the present. 4 Likes |

gidgiddy: Because our crop of criminal-politicians lack the political will. Just take a look round your constituency, what do you see? What prevents these criminals-politicians from doing the right thing coz they travel overseas and they can see what really development is. The black is the architect of his own problems - very simple! 1 Like |

Kekereekun123: UAE was not amalgamated by any colonial power. The emirates came together to form a mutually beneficial union along their century-old shared history. What commonality does this have with the forced amalgamation of Nigeria?? Malaysia originated out of shared history of smaller Malayan states, out of their own free will, and under their own design. And even at that still had Singapore split off. So what is your example there? Now do you want to look at the results of forced amalgamation all over Africa and the world? Sudan-South Sudan Cameroun - Ambazonia Ethiopia - Eritrea The entire former Soviet Union China - hong Kong China - Taiwan The overwhelming evidence is that amalgamation of peoples who do not agree or share common history leads conflict and lack of progress. In West Africa alone, out of 16 nations we had had civil war in Nigeria Ivory Coast Sierra Leone Liberia Senegal Guinea Bissau Mali Everywhere there is war in Africa today, there is the undertone of tribal and ethnic sentiments. 2 Likes |

KanuSE: Well, a lot of the development overseas is because of two things 1.Most government income in developed countries is dependent on the roads and electricity and water supply working well enough. If it doesn't, government income falls, and problems start. Nigeria's income has always been dependent on what raw material we sell....and most of the time you don't need power , light and water supply to work well all over the country before you extract the mineral. 2.We are not a rich country. We rely on income from things whose prices we don't control. Developed countries rely mainly on exporting manufactured goods and services whose prices they can set/control 2 Likes |

only if the united kingdom can be amalgamated with Afghanistan. maybe from experiment we could see how that turns out. if really it's the contractions or we are just the problem. |
Re: Photos Of Lord Frederick Lugard And The Amalgamation Process by Nobody: 12:33pm On May 15, 2020 |
KanuSE: Nope, you can say these are contributory factors., so to speak Modified It is because of the two facts I mentioned that our economy was able to give us something like 26billion dollars for our budget this year (on paper). Even taking away looting and corruption, $26 billion is not enough for a country of 200million people, or even 50 million. |
