Buhari is self-destructing on all fronts, because he is too rigid to engage in the diplomatic symphony that is politics. He is like a train fixed on rails that lead nowhere. cool
Nigeria needs the cool, calm, wise and reassured head that sits on Jonathans shoulders. He alone has the diplomatic nous and social dexterity needed to weld the disparate parts of Nigeria into one indivisible union with shared goals and ideals.

In hush tones, we have been told that he cannot be predicted because he hardly has his own mind. We are told he has neither conviction nor idea, he shares no interesting ideology and has not shown any particular intelligence or motivation required to tackle the numerous and daunting problems facing our nation. We have been told years ago that he was picked because those that never wanted to respect our democracy and vacate their position at expiration of their tenure wanted a man they can remote-control, and found one in him. He with his sick boss was packaged and forced on us in a ruthlessly rigged paper-thumping and shameless chaos they called election. The cabal that refused to respect our constitution and hand over to him when his sick boss died also told us he is plain minded and has nothing to offer.

Yet in all this, despite the gravity of the challenges that we face as a people and as a nation, at a time when our economy has once again been made to be on auto-pilot; we have chosen to go the ways of the unserious, the way of frivolities. We have all chosen the ways of the opportunists and sycophants. We have chosen to sell a lie to our people and our nation. Our external reserve has been looted, our consolidated accounts are in red, our borders, once again, are in the hands of the lords of the present world order; who found in us a market only to be exploited, but never to be allowed to produce. No one seems to take notice, no one seem to be bordered; but one lonely voice in the wilderness.

From north to south, from east to west, the sane voices have been drowned by that of the greedy unprincipled and sycophantic voices. A fake messiah has been packed and sold to us. The masses of the South that have never been educated or informed have all been deceived once again in a celebration of the fake messiah. In him we have found and empty vessel to dump all our failed hopes. A messiah who has not shown any capacity to be different, we have been made to dump our fallen hopes on. He will fill up all the valleys and level all the hills; even when we have never seen him posses a digger or a shovel. We have become a country built on fraud and lies. We have become land of liars. They have found in us people that can easily be deceived.

In 1999 the whole country was deceived in a fake transition to democracy. The sane “Afenifere” was lured into a trap by the military wing of the cabal; a predetermined transition was quickly arranged to transfer power to one of their own. The masses of the North were sold a dummy in Obasanjo, as the only southerner they can trust. Those of the West were made to see the essence of the struggle as fight to have someone from their ethnic stock in power. The contractor politicians in the east and south-south were contended being recognized as peripheral members of the cabal in power hoping to have the contracts flowing by so doing. Of course, the masses of the east and south-south have never had a say, since the days of the civil war.

During the Obasanjo regime the revenues accruable from a second oil boom in history was wasted. The Russians of the old Soviet block used their resources to rebuild their fallen empire and once again gained a voice in the committee of nation; the Venezuelans build up their country and gained a stature in the world; the Arab world build the wonders of Dubai with theirs while ours went down the drains, to the private bank accounts of a few individuals. Hiding under privatization they rationed the remnants of our national heritage to themselves and their cronies. People that could hardly pay their house bills after eight years as governors of states, bought over choice airline while the masses of our country lavish in perpetual poverty. They bought up choice places in London, United States and Dubai.

In less than twelve years, we are back to square one. Same method, same lies, same corrupt politicians, same manipulation, same fake messiah, same uninformed and easy to deceive masses, are all involved once again. Why must we allow ourselves to be used again? Are we cursed as people and as a nation? Can we not see the sane lone voice shouting to be heard among the contenders for the office of the Presidency? Why have we refused to take notice of the lone voice in the wilderness of the Sahara shouting that we repent and take back our nation from the cabal? Must we repeat the sins of the Jews of the old that failed to welcome a true messiah in their midst?

Christ the true messiah of the Jews did not appear among the powerful; He was never corrupt like the fake messiahs of today. He did not use the old method to bring a new dawn as our liars of today want us to believe; that circumstance compelled our fake messiah of today to be corrupt like his masters; that our fake messiah despite showing all the attributes of the rotten old ways will usher in our new days. We are being deceived once again. Christ’s example was a clean break from the dirty past. A true messiah shows in the ways he distances himself from the evils of the past. A true messiah is never a beneficiary of a corrupt past. A true messiah never tells a lie. A true messiah does not break promises. A true messiah has mind of his own and shares a coherent and true principle. A true messiah is never a manipulator or a schemer. A true messiah practices whatever he preaches.

Among every generation is a prophet; among any suffering group is a God-sent that is willing to liberate his people if only he can be recognized and his voice heeded. Among the contenders for the office of the Presidency is a man sent by God who is willing and capable to lead us out of our numerous denials. Among them is a man who never broke a promise; a man who never told a lie; a man that did not loot our national treasury despite having had several opportunities to steal like the people of his generation. Among them is a man who has been tested several times and has been proven to love this country and our people as himself. Only such a man can bring our new dawn; our new nation. Only such a man can truly bring our true “fresh air” different from the corrupt past.

We should not expect the cabals to give up without a fight; we should not expect them to lie low without mud-sling. We should know they live by lies. We should have known they will manufacture make-believes that will scare us away from our true messiah. We should have known they will fall back to their ever manipulative ways.
The few that is educated among us should have known that majority of our people are ill-informed and un-educated; we should have know that it is our duty to lead our people in the fight to liberate our fatherland. We should be ready to make the sacrifices needed to awaken the dormant power needed to pursue the looters out of our public offices.

Mr Godman.

The issue now is not the history of how things went wrong or who did/didnt what. The issue is who can clean all this age-long mess? Who will not release a day-light killer to get Oyo delegates votes? Who will not condone inappropriate use of power by Ohakim to disrupt peaceful meeting of Ohaneze? Who will not spend millions of pounds importing DUST-BINS from UK while manufacturing industries are going moribund at home? Who will not have 133 aides sharing the cake while Bayelsa state has not been adequately reached by national grid. Who will not negotiate for/ with looters (OGD, OBJ, Bode George, Ibori, IBB, Atiku) to cling on to power.

Many of us actively campaigned for GEJ to be substantively ordained as d President during Yaradua debacle. We supported him with prayers hoping with his youthful energy and peoples deafening yearning 4 good governance my man will turn out good and choose to write his name in gold.

GEJ is surrounded with looters, killers and dumb heads that cannot even estimate how much they have stashed away in foreign-lands. Forget south this and south-that sentiments we are tired of GEJ and PDP infections. We have risen above our fear for d 'Man of Integrity" . We have brushed aside his few mistakes and now concentrating on the fact that where GEJ has always failed he has remained strongest.

Buhari has had the best opportunities to become a Billionaire 4 times and 4 times he has refused to b. We want a disciplined society where people will once again start having respect for human lives, where looters will be treated as lepeers.

We know who can take us to our promise land

I can't remember directing the post to you. Even in small talks as this your level of bigotry is being put on display. At least we can separate the seeds from the chaffs, since we can now differentiate between those who are really interested in moving the nation forward and those who are only interested in pursuing their own ethnic and/or religious agenda. Enough is Enough! We would no longer allow PDP to fan the embers of divisiveness in order them to carry on their "Mission to Steal" approach of governance.

Its funny when you come to a forum where everyone speaks in English, only to start screaming in Hausa and blame civilised folk for pointing out the obvious.
. . .But much isn't expected sha; CPC people are best known for arson and stone throwing. LOL!!!!

Talking about moving the nation forward, what would a man best set in the stone age have to offer? Buhari conjures up images of human rights abuse, repression of freedom of speech, murder, "political soldiering" (he was involved in all military coups and govts except IBB's). IBB and Abacha served in his govts, he in turn served in Abacha's govt. He is a part of the sordid past we are slowly, but surely sweeping away.

When Buhari ruled there was zero freedom of speech, in fact you spoke the truth on pain of jail (ask Tunde Thompson and Nduka Irabor). It was a jailable crime to embarrass govt with the truth.

Speaking about ethnic bigotry, you couldn't find a better icon than Buhari. After he overthrew the govt of president Shagari (a fellow Fulani), he kept him under house arrest in plush conditions in highbrow Ikoyi, while his powerless deputy (an Igbo man) Alex Ekwueme was jailed under the most deplorable conditions in Kirikiri maximum prison. Bigotry?

Buharis tale is a gutter litany, from religious extremism to human rights abuses.

Why would anyone root for a monster just when the Middle East is getting rid of theirs?
Buhari is a dinosaur, intellectual carcass, vulture and despotic monster.

New York [RR] ABUJA–this intervention has been provoked, not so much by the ambitions of General Buhari to return to power at the head of a democratic Nigeria, as by declarations of support from directions that leave one totally dumbfounded. It would appear that some, myself among them, had been over complacent about the magnitude of an ambition that seemed as preposterous as the late effort of General Ibrahim Babangida to aspire yet again to the honour of presiding over a society that truly seeks a democratic future.
What one had dismissed was a rash of illusions, brought about by other political improbabilities that surround us, however, is being given an air of plausibility by individuals and groupings to which one had earlier attributed a sense of relevance of historic actualities. Recently, I published an article in the media, invoking the possible recourse to psychiatric explanation for some of the incongruities in conduct within national leadership.

Now, to tell the truth, I have begun to seriously address the issue of which section of society requires the services of a psychiatrist. The contest for a seizure of rationality is now so polarized that I am quite reconciled to the fact it could be those of us on this side, not the opposing school of thought that ought to declare ourselves candidates for a lunatic asylum. So be it. While that decision hangs in the balance however, the forum is open. Let both sides continue to address our cases to the electorate, but also prepare to submit ourselves for psychiatric examination.

Trust me if he comes into power you will notice the change / improvement in your lives instantly.

He has pledged to rapidly industrialise Nigeria starting with the power sector as a priority.

within couple of years when he has made lives and property secure, millions of nigerians would return home to invest in Nigeria. I fully intend to do so myself but fear of kidnapping and 419 is putting me off at present.

Fellow Nigerians please make the right choice for our future and for our future generations.

This is unbelievable! That Nairalanders can debate politics without insulting one another and each other's ethnic zone or religion? God be praised. Moderator, thanks too. Nairaland was becoming too predictive and banal. It seems to be where people come to display their lack of home training and hatred for other ethnic zones because of the anonymous cover it provides. Seun and his moderators must start being firm against ill-mannered commentators or cultured people will not bother to visit Nairaland. But thanks, guys, for the deep insights and sentiments you have shared on this debate. That is the way to go. Nigeria must be great again!

I represent the common man who hears reads about how much revenue my country earns yearly, but yet i never get to experience any of the "dividends of democracy" they government always talks about. You cant keep doing the same thing, the same way  and expect a different result. Ribadu represents all that we need in a leader. The current government of GEJ cannot and will not do us any good. I stand for change, and a different approach to Governance.

Nuhu RIbadu had an impressive outing yesterday at his campaign flag-off, yet it was censored out of most TV stations except AIT that broadcasted it live, but never deemed it fit to have it as a news headline. The incumbent wants us to think Ribadu isn't popular, but judging from what is going on in TBS Lagos right now i think he should think twice about trying to fool the common man.

People should not forget what buhari stands for he scuttled our democracy in 1983 and thereafter IBB came in and the rest they say is history how can he aspire to be a president in a democracy he never beleived in?
Re: Presidential Debate - Battle Of The Campaigners by Nobody: 11:27am On Mar 04, 2011
The 1983 coup happened after democracy had ceased to exist.

Shagari had rigged his way back into power after his government had looted us to our lasf kobo.

In any case Buhari himself never lead the coup, he was appointed by his peers after the coup to become Head of State.

It was because of Buhari's defence of our national interests and refusing to dance to tune of western creditors / IMF, that the west sponsored IBB to overthrow him after just 1.5years in power.

He acheived more in those 1.5 years than IBB, OBJ, Yaradua have done in all their years in office.

He cleared our national debt, almost stamped out corruption an reduce inflation by 80%.

I magine what Buhari could have done if he had a full term in office?

Despite his sincere love for the country and abhorence of evil and violence, he has no choice but to allow himself to be supported by the devils who believe they are in control. It is obvious to all that his government is daily being sabotaged and not stable enough, given the circumstances through which he came into power, for him to come out clean and allow these fellows to know that he hate their ways. That will be not only be naive, it is suicidal!
So far, he  has only been able to tell them he is not desperate for power and that his personal ambition or anybody else' is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.
It is grossly unfair for people here on Nairaland to expect him to commit the obvious blunder of confronting this undoubtedly powerful cabal now. Until that time when he has the firm grip of the sword, it will be foolish, to say the least, for him to dare the devils.
PATIENCE IS THE WORD AS GOODLUCK WILL SURELY BE THE NEMESIS OF THE NIGERIAN PHARAOHS. THEY WILL ALL LIVE TO REGRET THAT THEY HELPED HIM TO GET THERE. GEJ WILL DELIVER!
