PDP: Edo Governorship Primary Will Be Broadcast Live

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that Thursday’s governorship primary election in Edo state will be broadcast live on television.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, made this known in a statement on Wednesday night.

He disclosed that the election will be aired live on Africa Independent Television (AIT), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and Channels Television among others.

The spokesman reiterated that the party will be picking its candidate in Edo state through an indirect primary mode.

According to Ologbondiyan, the exercise will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City by 10;00 am.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that at least four aspirants will be contesting the governorship primary ahead of the state election slated for September 19 to face Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The aspirants to partake in the exercise are Governor Godwin Obaseki, Kenneth Imasuagbon, Gideon Ikhine, and Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama.

It still depends on the party's definition of 'live.' One thing we know for sure is that all political parties are Greeks bearing gifts and PDP is more of the Farangi character in Thugs of Hindostan -- true thugs of the Personal Republic of Nigeria.

PDP always play far much organized democracy. Following d abracadabra going on in APC one could only agree that a PDP purged of high level corruption is far more nationalistic than an APC which at best should be relegated to a regional party. Anytime any day PDP internal crisis resolution model is matured, all encompassing and cohesive. Few days ago who would have thought Obaseki would be having an easy ride to d PDP ticket, not even Oshiomole saw all these coming

I really thank God that Obaseki finally took this route.
Let godfatherism be buried for once in Edo State.

Look at how Governor Dave Umahi is fast developing Ebonyi State, just because he doesn't have a godfather who he pays tithe to with public funds.

This can not be said of Abia State.

The shock amongst Governors is, if Tinubu feels he can dictate who governs Edo, he might aswell displace all other governors when it's their turn..

This fight is between the Governors and Bourdillion... Ambode/Obaseki is one too many for them.

Seeing the ultra massive accolade Obaseki is receiving and still receiving under PDP in Edo, which they usually feel a decamp would ruin their careers turning out to be the next best thing has really bolstered their stance to take the battle to any length..
