PPPRA Increases Price Of Petrol From N140.80 To N143.80 Per Litre by 9jaBlogger: 5:22pm On Jul 01, 2020
The Federal Government through the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) has announced a new retail price band for oil marketers across the country.

In a circular dated July 1st, sighted by Igbere TV, the downstream regulator said oil marketers are now expected to sell petrol within the price range of N140.80 and N143.80.

“Please recall the provision for the establishment of a monthly price band within which Petroleum Marketers are expected to sell PMS at the retail stations, based on the existing price regime.

“After a review of the prevailing market fundamentals in the month of June and considering Marketers’ realistic operating costs, as much as practicable, we wish to advise a new PMS pump price of N140.80 to 143.80/Litre for the month of July, 2020,” the circular read in part.

These are all evidences of when a government decides to punish it's people. Of what benefit is it to Nigerians that we are an oil producing nation? Meanwhile most of these top shots in government don't even use their monies to fuel their vehicles o, it's our national budget that fuels their vehicles and generators...what a shame!

Regulating the price of petrol doesn't pay and it makes no sense that petrol sells in Lagos and other states at the same price. It is an inefficient system and they should allow the market forces determine price. Their role should be ensuring adulterated petrol is not being sold and the measurements are accurate.

This is for July, 2020.

By August 2020, it will increase to 145.80 per litre.

The price will be strategically increased to 145.00, this price range of 141.00 to 144.00 is just fronting.

NURTW will have a very good excuse to increase the transport fare now.

Nigerians will have sense by force... It had been obvious from last year dat dey were going to increase pump price of fuel.. Dey jus needed d perfect cover and excuse and along came covid which crashed oil prices in d international market.. Quickly dey slashed prices and claimed to have finally removed d subsidy on d product. By d time oil price stabilizes, den Nigerians will know d real deal

These people can never let the oil sell at its true price.
They can't give up their proceeds of fraud through subsidy.

Of course that's what subsidy removal is all about. What exactly is dubious or shocking or confusing here?

Over a month ago, oil sold for about $20 and pump price was reduced to N123. Now oil price has risen over $40 and pump price has increased. If oil price rises further to say $80, pump price would surely rise again, except we want govt to resume paying subsidy.

The title of this report is actually misleading; government didn't increase oil price, rather pump price has just increased in line with global oil prices.

All the charade of reducing it to #121 was not even when the global prices were down but just to continue to masquerade the subsidy under-recovery nonsense. Now, the true is out or has global oil price increased again?
