According to the lawmaker, the bill, if passed into law, will promote research and other means of advancement of knowledge and its application to military hardware and software, among others. He said that the institution would cater for the development of middle and high-level manpower in the area of technological empowerment for civilians, appreciation of military policies, logistic and strategies.

This is my main issue with these looters. They always sound as if they really care. Same thieves will award contracts to themselves to purchase these hardwares and softwares which never see the light of the day. Billions will awarded to construct top notch architectural stuff only to see mediocre structures being celebrated by the likes of Alex the self acclaimed reporter of mediocrity.
With the likes of Akpabio still part of the so called leadership team.....just forget it.

It is now obvious that we have nut cases in the hollow chambers ...what is really wrong with these bunch of idiots..why set up another military university when you have NDA, the Armed forces command an staff college Jaji amongst others which are degree awarding institutions that can always be properly equipped and funded.

Its obvious we have lost our way...a country with a rubber stamp assembly, a glorified appendage of the executive
arm where legislators pursue contracts like business men at the very detriment to those they hoodwinked into ascending to such positions.

Exactly what I was thinking
Why waste government expenditure on needless matters
I feel this is another ploy to corner public funds

Location of the Military University ----- Biu, Borno State

The same Borno State that is the playing ground of Boko Haram and ISWAP. They should continue deceiving themselves.

But why Biu?

Why site such in an area prone to terrorist attack.

Why are most military institutions sited in the North.we need to begin to ask critical questions in this country

NDA (Jaji North), Nigerian Army Depot (Zaria North) , Nigerian Military school (Zaria North),
Nigerian Custom training school (Kano North), Nigerian Police training school (Wudil, kano North),
Airforce Military school (Jos North)
now u still want to setup Nigerian army University in a place where boko haram currently roams free.

Is there no land in other part of the country?

Must every military institution be based in the North?
this one is not even about being based in the North. The FOOLS want to build a Military University (that will have military assets, armory and equipment) in the same state that is the Boko Haram and ISWAP strongholds, a state that is the invincible fortress of the terrorists that have been killing thousands of soldiers like Christmas chickens and mosquitoes, the same terrorists they have NOT been able to defeat for over 10 years even after so called Buhari Service Chiefs were asked to relocate there. Of all places to site the university in the North, they chose a Boko Haram location grin Just Google Boko Haram and Biu and see the countless times it has been attacked by Boko Haram. Same area that was one of the places under Boko Haram control during GEJ govt, the same Biu that army formations, troops, outposts etc have been overrun several times by terrorists and soldiers killed is where they want to site military university. Yet the war against Boko Haram has no end in sight. Mtchwwwwwww. I just pity any students that enrolls there, they just want to use them as kidnapping pawns for Boko Haram to take and use to negotiate for release of their terror commanders and forces captured by the army. So they will use those kidnapping as a cover to release terrorists they were always planning to release before. When General Danjuma said, Our army has been compromised..... I swear na now I dey believe d man is right

The Senate on Tuesday, at plenary, passed a bill to give legal backing to the establishment of the Nigerian Army University, Biu in Borno. Chairman of the Committee on Nigerian Army, Sen. Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South) said the passage of the bill followed a clause-by-clause consideration of the report of the committee. Ndume said the committee, while undertaking legislative work on the bill, took into consideration “areas that are in conflict with other extant laws, those that have security implication and those that are ambiguous.”

Meanwhile, the Senate also called on the Federal Ministry of Education to intensify its sensitization and advocacy programmes; and engage traditional and religious scholars on the plight of Almajiri. The senate said the need to enroll them into the universal basic education system to address the issue of out-of-school children in the country.

The call was contained in the recommendations of the report of Sen. Akon Eyakenyi (PDP-Akwa-Ibom South), the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Education (Basic and Secondary). Eyakenyi said that “the Almajiris, who were predominant in the North, constituted the larger number of out-of-school children roaming the streets begging for alms and food in Nigeria.

The lawmaker said the the Almajiri pupils were covered by the intervention policy and programmes of the Federal Government through Universal Basic Education Act, 2004. “The implementation of the UBEC Act, 2004 requires maximum collaborations with the State Governments and indeed the domestication of the Act through the State Legislatures,” she said. She said that Nigeria had obtained 611 million dollars from the World Bank Financed Programme-Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) – as a credit to specifically address the problem of Out-of-School children.

The lawmaker, however, stressed that the optimal operation and implementation of the BESDA Programme, as being implemented by UBEC in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, required the efforts of all stakeholders to succeed.

Sometime is too hard not to believe that northerners are preparing for war against the southerners. Two army universities in the north. In a country where there is an incessant hate, they shouldn't consider building a army university in the north.

You are missing the true picture... By Approving it, money will grease their palms during the project. Some will have their companies supply blocks, others will have theirs supply roads, another will supply cements, then we have those for paint and another for electricals, roofing, ...pipes and the list goes on.

How would they get this money if they do not approve? Is that not why they often inflate cost of projects across Nigeria?

I thought Federal Character ought to be applied in allocating positions, institutions and other resources within Nigeria.

No observance to Federal Character, yet Southern Legislators gladly allowed this University bill to scale through

all the key military school are in the norther, and yet we are one Nigeria. all out of school children's world bank support funds is always spend to build alamajiri school at norther, all federal government of Nigeria covid19 support to Nigerian citizens goes to north, the EU $350 Million for covid19 fight goes to north. and nairaland always warn don't post tribalism comment but there's and always tribalism share in federal system. some one from south will attend Military school at jaji Kaduna after escaping kaduna alamajiri finish he will now move to Boko-haram head quarter at BIU for military university. even former inspector of police, big yahoo boy/man Magu and Buratai that come from Biu never visited home for long time because of fear of Boko-boy. so why establishing military university there. is it a new place to teach recycling Boko-haram acclaim repentance how to handle gun professionally? is it a place to reduce the number of intelligent southern youth who may wish to be part of zombi. may God see this nation through but breaking is best solution so the north can keep the university at chad.
