The All Progressive Congress APC says the police siege which Nyesom Wike, which the governor of Rivers State, is under is part of COVID-19 protocols.

The Edo state chapter of the national ruling party stated this in a tweet in reaction to announcement by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the Rivers governor is under police siege in Benin City, the state capital.

This is coming hours to the governorship race which has Godwin Obaseki, the state governor seeking re-election on the platform of the PDP while his major challenger, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, of the APC seeks to oust him.

“Enjoy the quarantine, sir, in accordance with the existing COVID-19 protocols,” the APC said in the tweet.
