One can't just assume, we have to try before calling a bluff
It's NOT an assumption. Nigeria has done "restructuring" before. Restructuring is just a fancy way of saying let's return Nigeria back to the 1930's era of regional government but how did that work out? In-fighting, politicking, jealousy and bitterness and a push to a skewed form of federalism that got us to the shithole we are in today. Don't you get it? Some zones believe they have economic disadvantage, they have programmed their minds already that they don't have anything to offer. They can ONLY TAKE from other zones but have close to nothing to give back. So the sharing formula that zones that have should control their resources 100% and drop something at the center, will amount to that while others are dropping, some others have nothing to drop; AND amounts to some zones are making huge development and some zones are stagnant or retrogressive and this will drive population from stagnant zones towards the viable zones and will hinder the progress of those zones as their public infrastructure and economic potential are sucked through overpopulation because now the government of those viable areas have to cater for a huge population of people from other zones whether they like it or not, or whether they have extra provision for that or not etc. Lagos is a good example of this reality. While those zones that bring nothing or close to nothing to the center continue scheming and politicking and lobbying to crumble the system until the kind of federalism we are practicing today re-emerges, either by way of coup or war etc. And it will lead us back to 1960 all over again. So restructuring is a DEAD END and a wonder wheel for a lab rat to continuing wasting away as it runs for nothing. Independent countries is the way to go. You control your resources, you control your population, you control the influx of people that can come in (aka visa requirements), you control your borders, you control your government (no outside country can come carry out coup to rule your country to steal or access your resources)..... you control your destiny! SIMPLE.

Just forget about this blame game and do the needful.
Isaiah 55:6-7 KJV
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord , and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

More like a fight over who has not destroyed Nigeria more...

If restructuring means creating more states, local government and political offices then such restructuring should be thrown into the pits of hell. Such restructuring will never solve our problems. Rather it will worsen it.

The main problem we have in Nigeria is corruption, which can manifest itself as abuse of power and nepotism... If we fight corruption head on like Singapore and Kenya have done, we will rise up from the ashes we are currently in.

Kill corruption in Nigeria, kill corrupt public officials and seize all their looted funds simple.

Next, we should restructure our own type of democracy which is a zero sum game, winner takes all, and very antidemocratic and retrogressive in the real sense.

Our democracy should be such that if one party fails to secure at least 90% of votes in an election, then a unitary govt should compulsorily be formed where the party with the highest vote takes governorship seat and deputy or president and vice president... While other positions will be shared to the party or parties that score the next highest votes up until they collectively reach 90% ...

This type of government is representative of the people and is the true democracy.....not dividing Nigeria and creating more offices for looters to come in in the name of restructuring...

15 million Nigerians voted for APC in 2019
More than 11 million voted for another party... Who is representing the more than 11 million voters in the government? Why should APC take everything? Why won't the other parties continuously antagonize the winner and create all manner of instability till they also get to win election?

Endemic corruption and a winner takes all democracy is what is killing Nigeria.

Nice comment

Restructuring in Nigeria??

Maybe it will happen the year we celebrate our 100 years of Independence!!
Our leaders after the Civil War ended signed the treaty from both sides of the spoils.
Odumegwu initiated it.
But, what do kids know

We Rise!

Sir, wouldn't Restructuring help the nation, specifically it will increase the productivity of many dependent states. Nigeria will rise again!!!

How do we southerns expect Hausa/Fulani to restructure Nigeria? The Southerners have been in power most , Obasanjo- 4years, Jonathan - 6years, that is 14 years together , they fail to do it compare to yaradua- 2years and the incumbent, PMB now 5years plus, making it less than 8years. So I can't blame them(Hands/Fulani) if they fail to restructure the country[/quote]

Truth is many of us saw no need to restructure during PDP ...we were all Nigerians treated equally .... diversification was the main issue we talked about

No body expected a president or party can be as nepotistic as APC ...no body expected that a region would be denied things because they didn't vote the rulling party

It's just like when we discovered kidnapping was not an offence ...we added it ...today we have seen the power of the president ...someone worse than buhari would come ...so to protect ourselves we need to restructure

Both parties are mother-fucker idiots. One spend 16 years of total waste, another one has 5 out of 8years also leaning to total waste. It's just unfortunate they both still the major parties and we Nigerian won't realize we need to switch out from them.
We don't learn at all. They idiots are are not worthy of listening to when they brag on themselves cos it's politicking they are showing.

Buhari that want to take over all water resources in every part of Nigeria. Doesn't that confirm that Buhari will never support restructuring. Because regional resource control is one of the aims of restructuring. So, FG wanting to take over water in our backyard has no plan for restructuring.
