bj2012golf and baby on the birth of your baby, been off NL for a while...

Sorry this is so long...
My flight was from abuja to Heathrow, to Chicago then to St. Louis.
I had no idea Chicago POE was hot cake till the lady posted her story. My flight was on Tuesday 17th, by the time we got to Chicago, I was exhausted, it was about 1am Nigerian time , my 2yr old son was fast asleep, we tried to wear him his winter jacket and that was how the tantrum started. He cried inconsolably. We wer the last to the leave the plane and by the time we got to immigration there was no queue . Got to the immigration officer.
Officer- why are you here
husband - visiting and my wife has an appointment with the gynecologist.
Officer- How long are you staying.
husband- me a week, them about 3 months.
Officer- been to any African country lately.
husband - No
Officer - do you have food
Husband - cassava flakes (garri) and grinded millet( pap)
Officer took our prints and stamp our passport, sent us for secondary inspection.
I sat down a distance away with my son.
There told my husband to bring our bags. Said there had to see the food.
cbp- does your wife plan to have the baby here
Husband - yes
C- why
H- cos of her experience with her first delivery
C- why the US, why not UK or Russian
(Lmao , Russia ko)
H- i am used to coming to the US
C- But you have never used he US for medical
H- No
C- doctors appointment?  Any documents
H- yes, showed him
C- I don't believe this letter is genuine.
H- silence
cbp- how long are you staying
H- told him
C- how would she cope with the little boy.
H- she's staying with someone
C-  looked inside our luggage
what are these. (Expression attachement)
C - are there human hair,?
H- I don't know , my wife bought them for less than $2.
C- why so many ( 8 )
H- There are more than 8, they are 20 pieces, so that they will last.
C- How much do you have?
H- 9500
C- you said they are staying for 3 months your luggage doesn't say your wife is staying for 3mo.
H- she has just bout 5 cloths that she wears and would buy from the stores here for both of them.
C- why does your luggage tell me you are relocating here
It didn't sound funny den, I was tired n my son was sleeping on my already tired body.
H- I won't leave my job n relocate under a visiting visa.
C- what do you do
H- Told him
C- do you have any document to prove that
H- Showed him ID card
C - You should have a letter from your place of work stating you are on leave n coming back
(Hiaaaaa, see wahala. I just dai hiss were I siddon.)
He went on and on about the box, said he doesn't believe us, no cloths in the box. I can't remember half the question, but finally he freed us. Said my husband was an economist and have packaged the whole answer. That this is what he does, he gets fact from people's luggage, he said next time he won't believe us bla bla bla. Since I met my husband, he has been to the US atleast twice every year in April and October for IMF meeting (officially sponsored)
And once he takes his leave and I follow him to cut transportation cost.
It's really not by how many times you come der.
I hope this helps someone.
I just want to say thanks to everyone here, you helped us prepare well.God bless...

As regards POE, it's just God's grace. One can be sent back from any POE. D famous houston, some pple on this thread av gone tru there without any hassle. This same Chicago was my POE August last year and we were taken to secondary inspection room and I wasn't asked anything but hubby was asked how much he had with him and that was all.

In as much as some POES are notorious cos of an average experience of pple, put God first and d rest will be jara.

Happy sunday ya all

For hospital can search this thread for hospital. I think most of us in Houston use either: west houston medical centre, oakbend or Methodist. Have sent you a PM check your email. Congratulations on your VISA.

Pls mothers in the house that have had deliveries using epidural and then not using vice versa.
I observed that mothers who used epidural took a lot longer to push their babies out because that painful urge wasn't there. Trying to decide on to do and not to do?
What was your experience like?

It depends on the individual. I had a fantastic experience with epidural and will def use it again

someone was asking for a hospital in NY, a friend just used d one below

Wykoff heights medical center

Every visit to the women's health centre is 130 dollars b4 they admit u

U might go like 4 to 5 times

Sonogram about $400

Then when they admit u its 6500 for normal delivery and 10000 for cs

2 days stay in hospital for normal delivery
3 days stay for c section

130 per visit after u r discharged
Depending on d health of d baby or any tests they want to carry out

Hi everyone,
Long time, its been almost 5 months since I checked this thread. I have been very busy with work and postgraduate stuff.

My wife and I just renewed our VISAs via dropbox. After the application my wife was called for an interview, we went there together because we applied as a family, but when we got to the embassy my wife was the only one interviewed as my VISA was ready. The interview went thus :
VO: The last time you were in the US u spent 3 months?
Wify: yes
VO:Why?
Wify: I had my baby there
VO: Did you inform the embassy before travelling?
wify: Yes I did, both Lagos and Abuja.
VO: Do u have your receipts
wify: yes(and she presented it to him).
VO: pick up ur VISA at ...... and keep your receipt safe, you will need it like forever.
wify: thank you.

Parents in the house, keep your receipts, you will always need it.

BTW, my boy is now 7 months old. Bouncing up and down, disturbing in a joyous way, its just an exciting experience.

I wish all our pregnant mom a safe delivery like that of the hebrew woman.

Thinking of doing this again anytime soon, maybe not this year.
have a lovely week y'all.

O'Hare, I used British Airways.
I forgot to mention. Use the wheelchair services, use it please , my husband was paranoid so I walked, worse mistake ever.

... So the Lord blessed us with a baby girl a few weeks back. Apologies for sharing my experience a lil late. It hasn't been easy managing two infants. Everything from the prenatal visits to the deliveryat Mihs went well. I had planned to have a natural delivery without any pain meds just like my first but the little snag was going through the pain alone without any support person. Agreed, I was told the nurses in mihs were very nice and could support me all the way but I really did not want to leave anything to chance.
Just at the last minute, I decided to get a doula. Though she did not do much, I am glad I made that decision. Few hours before delivery, I told her ( my doula) the situation of things and she came over to my house to see how things progressed. We left home for the hospital when my contractions were between 7-10mins apart. On getting to the hospital, I was hesitant about going in as the contractions were not strong enough and I did not want to be turned back seeing as the maternity package includes only 1 ob triage visit. She encouraged me and we eventually checked in after walking for some minutes outside in a bid to move things along. Checked in and was 4cm dilated (wide smile on our faces when we were told that.) . Fast forward, labour went smoothly , but was very painful compared to my first because my baby came out 'sunny side up' . The doctors and nurses were awesome and I must say they know their onions. Processing baby' s papers and can't wait to go back home.
Wishing all preggers mamas and papas goodnews at the end.....SHALOM!
