Efcc Takes Over Igbinedion’s Assets ! by wales(m): 6:18am On Mar 09, 2011
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday began the enforcement of a court order to take over the assets and property of a former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, in different locations in the country.

Operatives of the EFCC began the enforcement in Abuja based on the order of Justice M.B Idris of the Federal High Court, Lagos.

Two or the 11 property, located in Abuja, were the first to be taken over by EFCC operatives. Eight others are located in Benin City, Edo State and Victoria Island, Lagos.

Another house, located at 29 Sheldon Avenue, Highgate, London, was also listed among the property to be forfeited to the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Justice Idris had on February 28 ordered that Igbinedion’s assets be forfeited to the government pending the determination of the charge in suit number FHC/B/11C/2011.

Other property the EFCC took over on Tuesday included a block of four flats at 43 Etete Road, Benin; Chicken Republic on Sapele Road, Benin City; a parcel of land at 3, Boundary Road, Benin City; a building covered by approved plan number 2041/2004 at 20B Etete Road, Benin City; a building known as White House located along Ugbor Police Station Road and a mighty house at the neighbourhood of Etete and Ugbor Layout, Benin City.

The property to be forfeited in Lagos is located at 55C, Adebisi Close, Off Samauel Adedoyin Street, Victoria Island, Lagos while those in Abuja are landed properties at 5, Danube Crescent, Maitama and 7, Justice Fatai Williams Street, off Justice Sowemimo Street, Abuja.

Igbinedion, who was governor of Edo State between 1999 and 2003, is facing charges of alleged unlawful conversion and criminal diversion of fund by the EFCC.

The former governor and six others are facing a 66-count-charge on money laundering and mismanagement of public funds amounting to about N3.2bn.

The other accused persons are Patrick Eboigbodin; Michael Igbinedion and four firms: Gava Corporation Limited; Romrig Nigeria Limited, PML Securities Limited and PML (Nigeria) Limited.

What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul. After amassing all these properties he can only live in one at a time. imagine if the amount looted to fund one of his houses was spent building a hospital school or road.

This might prove to be a tip of the ice berg if EFCC care to probe deeper. The man was Governor from 1999-2007 during which time the infrastructure of a whole state  was in complete ruin (and I am talking by Nigerian standard).

There is nothing to be proud about bringing a case of N3.2b against Lucky Igbinedion

I'm silently hoping that these years of having Igbinedion enjoy his stolen luxury was spent gathering evidence on him because this case cannot and should not fall apart.

I agree!!!

Big deal!

In the end, the man will probably bag a couple of years jail sentence( if at all) with a chicken- feed as fine, plea bargin or not.
He will soon be out to enjoy his ill-gotten gain and soon enough, be back in politics.

What was the upshot of all those before him prosecuted by Efcc?

A charge of N3.2bn theft?
That's an insult to d govt & people of Edo state.
That guy was given a N2bn World Bank Ecological loan to assist in d construction of roads and drainages in d erosion threatened area, from New Benin to the Ikpoba river. He tarred a few, dug some drainages, sand-filled some pot-holes, graded some roads, and that was it.
It was this same guy who told us he used N2,000,000,000 to host OBJ on a 2-day presidential visit to d state.
Same Lucky told us that; "EDUCATION IS A PRIVILEGE NOT A RIGHT."
Lucky should be made to cough out every SINGLE kobo.

I still cannot believe some people are actually 'gulping' this kind of news under a Goodluck leadership.

EFCC is staging-up some drama since GEJ has been consistently criticized in resent months for being corrupt and showing no sign of fighting corruption. All Igbinedion just needs to do is to become more involved in GEJ presidential campaigns and he will even be rewarded with more loots.

Stop hoping for any positive change under GEJ or you go sleep here.,.,.,

Most of these transfer destinations had The Igbinedion Familyy name on it, This fella is 1 BIG MoDA F o r ker,  and his siblings will be driving up and down London/US in Drop Top Bentleys as if they worked for it.

After all these lands and houses here and there how many rooms can he sleep at once? This foolishness of man to gain everything in the world. Forgetting that the reason God blessed him with all these is to be a blessing to others. May God have mercy on him.

sad, if all these facts are true, my prayer for him is that God should touch his heart for him to realize his wrongs and quickly repent before Jesus comes.
