According to you, they have modern buildings that are in use, its just that the old ones have been abandoned...I understand ur concern, but this situation is still ok if the modern ones are well maintained. |

travelwaka:I think the problem with our beloved country is that it lacks a proper educational system which will train wonderful leaders of tomorrow who will work to build, develop and maintain social amenities Most Nigerian Leaders today are good at building new structures but lack the ability to maintain them |

travelwaka:You are very funny....why should a dilapidated old building be used in this modern time.... When the state has the resources for erecting a better structure.... No matter how u renovate or refurbish the buildings...it will still not be safe to teach children inside....get it Mr! |

viyon02:It's not about the new buildings. The very first buildings in the premises ought to be given more attention for they are our heritage and would attract tourism. 1 Like |

Hopez456: The buildings abandoned here do not match 19th century colonial architecture. They must have been built much later. It is likely that the historic buildings are long gone and these more modern dilapidated ones are being used as placeholders. Attached is a better rendition of 19th century architecture ( albeit a secondary school - my alma mater St Gregory's Lagos. If you check Holy Child College and CKC Onitsha you will see similar influences) 2 Likes

I don't see any reason why building should be refurbished when it is supposed to be historic! How do you expect people to come see a 1843 building when it looks like one built in 2012 |

This Op is a fool. With a prejudiced mindset. The old buildings have been replaced with newer and attractive buildings. The old buildings are no longer in use, yet you kept emphasizing on how bad the old ones are. People who think this way don't ever forget the past. |

Tourism value of the school should also be look at. It was mentioned at the school is the first primary school in Nigeria. That is interesting. Some part of the building should be facelifted and made to serve as touristic monument. alternatively fix all the building to a modern structure for better study environment. |

Maybe it's for the purpose of history. Like Indians leave their historic ruins for modern age to appreciate it. There's really no need rebuilding it. |

We just have senseless idiots in position of power across all levels of government. How could they have watched this historic institution rot away without any sense of responsibility of restoring the image of the school. Very pathetic and sad! |
