The political crisis in Ogun State has taken a new dimension as the state Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has begun to sack political office holders who fail to heed his directive to join the People’s Party of Nigeria, PPN.
P.M.NEWS checks this morning revealed that the governor, who has defected to the PPN, has in the last few weeks sacked a liaison officer and some aides in local governments.

His liaison officer for Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Hon. Obasanjo Soyeye was replaced by Dr. Femi Akinsile, which some political observers saw as a house cleaning exercise.

Similarly, the governor’s Special Assistant on media, Mr. Segun Sowunmi was affected in the latest exercise.

Others affected are the three members of the local government caretaker committee in Yewa South. They are: Hon. Remi Ogunfola, Hon. Deji Orebiyi and Mr. Taiwo Jimoh.

The Chairman Caretaker Committee, Yewa South Local Government, Dr. Mohammed Adekunle Adewunmi is said to be under pressure for his failure to fully support the PPN campaigns in the state.

It was learnt he had been threatened with removal from office if he does not change.

A close aide of the chairman told P.M.NEWS on phone this morning that his boss was being coerced to campaign for the PPN governorship candidate, Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka adding that he had to agree to protect his “job

An aide to the governor who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity said four liaison officers may be removed very soon. One of the affected officers confirmed he had learnt of the plans to remove him but he has not received any official letter yet. He said he had received text messages from a customised number, which confirmed the rumour of his removal.

P.M.NEWS investigation has revealed that the governor has sworn-in new officers whereas the substantive office holders did not know what their fate would be.

Some of the new appointees include the chairman of Ikenne Local Government, Otunba Tiwalade Sobo as a special adviser on a yet to be announced portfolio, Gbemisola Onasanya, Principal General and four local government service commission officers, Kolawole Ishola, Otunba Funmi Aina, Alhaji Ade Alatishe and Chief Wale Adeogun.

Meanwhile, a media aide to Chief Mrs. Lola Abiola-Edewor confirmed that his boss had not defected to PPN.

He described as a goof the newspaper report that claimed yesterday that Lola Abiola-Edewor will be contesting on the platform of the PPN. He insisted that she is still a PDP member.

The aide said Lola Abiola-Edewor is presently working with Chief Mrs. Titilayo Ajanaku’s Women Mobilisation Committee of the Jonathan-Sambo Campaign Organisation in Ogun State.
