Just imagine we have more than 12 flyovers in Ebonyi but a level 17 civil servant in Ebonyi earns less 60k per month. This shopping mall will only send some Smes packing. Everybody is pretty poor in Ebonyi state including his appointees

This goes to show how unorganized, uninformed and retrogressive the Nigerian governments is in the way it runs it's economy. The government is supposed to provide sufficient basic amenities and infrastructure for the private sector to thrive on. Government primarily is supposed to provide good transportation, power, security, education business subsidies and other necessities while generating their income from taxes. The private sector grows and solidifies only when those things are put in place. Building luxury malls are unnecessary if the road networks in Abakiliki are terrible, and locales in Afikpo can't afford clean water. It will probably fold up in 3 years due to poor management.

This here is the comment I was looking for. Will he construct high rise buildings around it too?

Oga if really you are from Ebonyi please stop lamenting, every progress in life comes with sacrifices, the flyovers, the airport, the stadium and many other developmental project that are on going in the state now will not be repeated at least for a very long time to come, after this massive project period any government of the day will have enough fund to increase salaries & other welfare packages, thank God you said including his appointees, that means every Ebonyian has to contribute in one way or the other, the flyovers he is building is for good of Ebonyi not his personal use, plz lets use our brains, lets not join our enemies, I mean those that are not happy with the speed of the transformation going on in our beautiful state in trying to pull our God giving governor down, be wise please.

Governors are not intended to build shopping malls. What needed to be done by them are much more and not trivia things like this.

When idiots like you cry on this forum we always know why, Umahi has really developed Abakaliki and is really painful to some ppl from a particular state in SE, if you check ppl that talks bad about Umahi they are mostly ppl from that particular state, not for any reason but bcus Umahi has
turned Abakaliki into a mega city whereas their own state capital still remain a glorified village, with just one single flyover that will soon collapse.

When states start building malls. Hope the state will be renting the stores to sell government goods and properties too.
Wasting (borrowed) public funds to build the "largest mall in West Africa" in a tiny state with a small population with a very low purchasing power. Definitely looks like a very bright and sustainable idea!

Welcome to Nigeria.

I'm sure your father did not give him the resources, so why drinking medicine on another man's sickness, while your own state has become a dustbin and well known for breeding of criminals & harlots, so you want our visionary Governor to share kerosene like your clueless Governor that fails to understand that infrastructure is the key for economic revolution of a state and not litres of kerosene. This your narrative about ppl hawking is the reason why you have criminals as pass & present Governors that have raped your state so badly, still crime filled brains like you will not concern them selves with that rather, but out of envy they love to speak evil on another state that is ahead of theirs & for the record it might interest you to know that we the hawkers & not criminals like you are well pleased with what our amiable Governor is doing as such we need no advise whatsoever from crime filled brain like you on how to use our resources, we therefore recommend that you take your empty advise to your Governor whom as I speak is very confused, reasons why your state is called the dustbin of the nation.
