She is getting the job because she has a Phd in Economics, has been former MD of the World Bank, a 2-time minister of finance, and one-time minister of foreign affairs. She is currently working to get COVID-19 vaccines to Africa which will require a lot of negotiations which is a high point for the job she is about to start.
