Ezeife: Why South-East, South-South May Withdraw Support For PDP In 2023 by bolaayenimo: 6:57am On Mar 27, 2021
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, a former governor of Anambra State on Friday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is already digging its grave ahead of the 2023 general elections if it goes ahead to throw its presidential ticket open without zoning it to the South.

Speaking in a chat with Saturday Independent, Ezeife said the South-East and South- South may be forced to dump the PDP if the presidential ticket goes to the North.

There are indications that the PDP will adopt the report of its committee set up to review why the party lost in the 2019 presidential election and recommend solutions on how the party would return to power in 2023.

The 14-member committee, headed by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State had recommended that the presidential ticket of the party should be thrown open to all regions instead of resorting to zoning arrangement, a position which greatly angered Southern stakeholders in the party.

With the development, many believe it is a strategy by the party leadership under Prince Uche Secondus to zone the ticket to the North.

According to Ezeife, it remains to be seen how the PDP will survive in 2023 if the South-East and South- South which are its strong base withdrew their support.

“There is no problem if the PDP decides to throw the presidential ticket open without zoning it to the South. They are already digging their own grave.

“The strength of the PDP is in the South East and South-South. But if they say they are not zoning presidency to the South, it means it is time for us to forget PDP and we will see how they will survive,”
he said.

PDP has literally zoned presidency back to north because they know their slaves down south east don't have any option than to support their masters.Atiku will reward you people with vp slot thats enough.

Besides pdp have lost election before it started if they think Nigerians will support another Fulani president to take over from Buhari.

But i feel for south east shacheesy serving a political party for 24yrs and they don't see them worth enough to be the party flagbearer

And who are you to complain on behalf of South south?

Invest that energy in making sure that your people from Yewaland who are languishing in penury in Benin Republic are made to come back.

It's the Igbo elite that wants the ticket zoned to the East... If you come to the East, the general disposition is that we don't mind voting an Atiku/Obi ticket again except APC gives it's ticket to an Igbo man that is not their slave.

We would rather not be president and have a president that is favorably disposed to us than lose everything insisting on presidency.

You’ve not been paying attention to exit polls of recent. Check the records from the 2019 election and see how wrong you are. South south is gradually moving away from the one way traffic voting that the region used to be known for. APC won over 32% of the total vote cast in the region compared to 19.49% the party got in south east.

2023 will even be more interesting since the much hated Buhari won’t be on the ballot. Things will even get worse for PDP if they field a northerner. Something very close to 50-50 is very likely. So you see, the reality on ground is changing.

It is interesting and vital to note here that the PDP which many of us (igbos) still proudly support and adore was in power for 16 solid years and in those years there were 4 Presidential Inaugurations and on none of those was an Igbo man found worthy by the PDP of even Vice Presidency and we are still bold to say it is the APC that has barely finished one tenure that doesn't want to give power to Igbos. Odi nma.

NOW; Seriously, let's be sincere. As things stand today politically, why would the APC even hand power to us Igbos in 2023?
on what grounds?
on what records?
on what politics?
Is power given to anyone?
Is it an appeasement or a gift?

The APC is a political party.
The main focus of a political Party is to hold power and keep it to enable it deliver on its agenda.
So if the APC reads that the SE does not want the Presidency or does not have the capacity to help them win and keep power, they will stick with the regions that can and work with individuals who are interested.

Ka Chineke mezie okwu.

Vaughanlanrewaj:

It is so apparent that PDP will not gamble and place any southerner against an Asiwaju Tinubu in 2023 so they are banking on taking the huge northern votes to cancel APC in the south.
This is a very good time for Ohaneze to start planning for 2031 including building a formidable platform then presenting a candidate with great clout who can win election across regions.
Hmmmmmmm, thus is deep!

It would even get worse than 19% for the SS now being a complete PDP region and Tinubu candidate would be a huge spite against it serving a complete 8years... but your partisanship would obviously not let you see it.

The general disposition of all Nigerians is that your votes are inconsequential. That's why the PDP will never gamble its ticket with an Igbo man. The vote from Kano alone nullified all votes for PDP in SE in 2019 so come of your high heels.

BTW, your people can't be frolicking across threads screaming Tilumbu while you want your deplorable SE not to go under the knife of criticism. Stop mastubating over Yewa while the decadence in your region and perpetual irrelevance lingers on.

Ipobians and Fulanis are similar

Only a Fulani man keep screaming Hausa-fulani just to leech off Hausa

Only Ibo man would scream SE/SS

Ipobians keep screaming no man's land and developers of other people's land

Fulanis keep screaming all land belongs to Allah and as such their inheritance

Ezeife is stylishly begging the PDP for the Presidency. The chicken has come home to roost. Was this not the same man who in 2007 asked Ndigbo to wait till 2015 for their turn to the Presidency, all in a bid to rubber stamp the Yar’dua/Jonathan Presidency
This is what you get when you sell Igbo interest with the likes of Iwuanyawu, Nwobodo, Egwu etc for a bag of porridge.

PDP in Igboland died in 2003 when these group of clowns kept quiet or rather collected bribes from Obasanjo instead of supporting Buhari/Okadigbo Presidency. That was when the SE lost that opportunity to take control of their political destiny.

One thing will happen before 2023! Either Ndigbo stand their grounds by insisting that both the PDP/APC pick Igbo Presidential Flagbearer, or move strongly together into forming political alliance with other stakeholders in a new party.

I pity Tinubu urchins come 2023.

The worst terrible mistake Apc will make is giving Tinubu or any yeroba ticket grin

if you think buhari will support a southern candidate then you must be decieving yourself cheesy

come 2023 what happened in edo will repeat itself

Buhari will rather cede presidency to the northern Pdp candidate than allow Tinubu take over just like he rubbished him in Edo.

Hehehehehe now you'll see politics of hate you guys are playing because SE/SS will rather support something worse than buhari than allow Tinubu near aso rock
which means
North will never abandon their people to support Tinubu hence north will support Atiku or any northerner from Pdp (that is if Tinubu gets the ticket at first oo)
igbos will vote against criminal Jagabantis
SS same thing
even SW will be 50:50 cheesy

so for your mind Tinubu will defeat Atiku or kwankwaso of even Tambuwal in the north grin
Why are Tinubu urchins so delusional grin

once again I laugh Tinubu urchins
