I can never see my cousin or any relative with romantic eyes. My village is not that small. In fact, I find them ALL extremely irritating and aggravating. Pests! I can't stand them ALL. |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by Ranoscky(m): 6:53pm On Apr 17, 2011 |
It's not acceptable in my hometown but to me (personally speaking), I dont think there's anything wrong in it. |

missobeza: Goldieluks: well, i think its permitted in the islamic religion (i stand corrrected). And we are well aware that the muslims dominate the northern part of Nigeria. gacha: Yes, and i would say this is because Gambia is practically an Islamic country. @ OP, I hope you get my point? |

Hello gacha, Are you a Gambian? I am a Nigerian but I was in Gambia for about 45 days and I really really enjoyed my stay. Gambia is such a wonderful peaceful place. It's just that there is not too much money as in Nigeria. |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by Ranoscky(m): 8:19am On Apr 18, 2011 |
You can aswell make the money in Nigerian and move on to Gambia to flex it. |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by SexyDuby(f): 5:07pm On Apr 18, 2011 |
Dats serious TABOO here in Nigeria. |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by MeAboki(m): 10:33pm On Apr 18, 2011 |
^^^^ Sorry to bust your bubble and those in disbelief. It is quite common in some parts of Nigeria, come to the North where it is considered quite normal because the Islamic religion permits it. It is also commonly practiced among the royalty of Europe, if you care to check you would come to find that many of them are related by blood, through this sort of inter marriage. I think even the present queen of England may be related to her husband, Prince Phillip ( though not very sure). One man's meat is another man's poison. |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by CrudeOil2(m): 10:36pm On Apr 18, 2011 |
Even a third/fourth cousin is a taboo. |

Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by THEAMAKA(f): 12:51am On Apr 19, 2011 |
where I come from in Igbo land, its forbidden. there is a family outside of my village that are outcasts because of this. they were said to have been marrying their cousins, and they have been outcasts for the last 3 generations because of it. no one associates with them, or even acknowledge them. its seen as a BIG TABOO where I'm from. and why would anyone WANT to marry their cousin to begin with? |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by iice(f): 3:04am On Apr 19, 2011 |
orbaxy: In your language probably. |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by Ranoscky(m): 3:59am On Apr 19, 2011 |
THE AMAKA: You were brought up that way by Knowing that, it is an abormination/taboo to marry your cousin, so live with it, not to bother why others do, for ALL culture and tradition are not same. ONE MANS FOOD IS ANOTHER MANS POISON !!! In a normal sense, I see NOTHING in it! |
Re: Can You Love Your Cousine/cousin? by orbaxy(m): 5:00am On Apr 19, 2011 |
