The north is getting desperate and there have been traces of a military coup, in event that this coup is SUCCESSFUL, and a Northerner takes over, What Happens?
I need your opinion on this. Reasonable posters only.

Re: In Event Of A Successful Military Coup, What Happens? by Eziachi: 3:25pm On Apr 20, 2011
In event of a successful coup which is highly unlikely due to pressure or opposition from outside than from inside or Nigerians, all these democrats will be falling over each other for ministerial and commissioner positions and they will say that stability of Nigeria comes first, so that is why they want to join the new government. Even Jonathan may nominate some ministers himself.

But I believe that any sign of military might finally bring the curtain down for Nigeria as one nation, but Nigerians, especially the owners of Nigeria are full of surprises in their quest to maintain the status quo.

Lol - Even GEJ will be begging for local Chairman position - There are no true democrats in Nigeria yet

.it is case of an AGIP. Even Abacha was praised as the best thing to happen to Nigeria

Thinking GEJ or PDP is reforming or reformed is very comparable to leaving a hungry man in charge of food supplies.

We will drop our suits and fight to reinstate GEJ as our President. Thank God the international community recognises his government. Bunch of idiots cannot continue to dictate to us because they've lost out.

I hope you are not mistaken me for someone that you knew very? I have always fight the owners of Nigeria even in my youthful days, unlike you that seems to worship even the soil King Goodluck stepped on. King Jonathan is the latest ordained member of the owners of Nigeria club.

We will only be thrown into a long drawn war. The international community will back GEJ and "the oil" and the world will have another Libya to contend with.

it's very simple . . . Nigeria would fail to exist as a nation cause a seccesion is sure to be a success . .reasons . .Biafra failed because the South south felt maligned and looked down on,so they withdrew their support from the supremacist Igbo combatants . .the main heroes of Nigeria in winning that war were westerners . . . Awolowo made sure hunger and starvation blighted Biafra to a standstill by changing currencies at every givin whim. .the gallant combatants who fought like gladiators and contributed immensely were Adekunle and Obasanjo . And it also a war between the East and the rest of Nigeria

But in these scenario . .the SE,SW,SS and MB will face the core north and demolish them . .after which . .they will grudginly agree to stop the fighting, agree to go their own way while the south have their boundary defined. .it would be epic . . And would give birth to a more dynamic southern Nigeria

lolo

War with who  - maybe Mend  targeting a few oil installations and that is all u get before they bought over with cash inducements  - you  are obviously naive and dont know the Nigerian masses  - even those who rigged for GEJ  will be first to say "  I no wan die yet  - i get pikin for house "

MOst the west will do is sanctions like the days of Abacha   -  and Nigerians will continue in their act of suffering and Smiling as witnessed under so called  12 years of democracy
Re: In Event Of A Successful Military Coup, What Happens? by efisher(m): 4:25pm On Apr 20, 2011
^ You call it naive, don't worry start a coup in this day and time and see what happens.

It will not be an issue of GEJ anymore it will be about the great divide between N and S and between Christians and Muslims. That is one part of humans you do not touch without consequences. The election has drawn the line already, we just have to be wise enough to avoid escalating the conflict further.

If there is a coup, this nation will see a lot of violence. And I think there will be violence within the army itself.

Thanks for the appreciated history lesson but when that dawn comes, every man to his fathers house. There will be nothing or something that is going to called or known as republic of Southern Nigeria, in name, make up or association for now, tomorrow and eternity. Such a dream died with the gladiators and the currency changer on a whim in the 60s.
Re: In Event Of A Successful Military Coup, What Happens? by Nobody: 6:38pm On Apr 20, 2011
All this could have been avoided if the rigging had not happened.

Rigging was more obvious in the Nothern States where Buhari's popularity is huge, so when you tell them that GEJ got 49% of their votes and Buhari 51%, they were never going to buy it.
Re: In Event Of A Successful Military Coup, What Happens? by efisher(m): 6:51pm On Apr 20, 2011
The people who voted GEJ are the people in those buildings and churches that were burned down. What about those who are part of the current  PDP government along with their families and associates. What about the local leaders who openly declared support for GEJ? These are also human beings and they voted. It is difficult for you to see because you allowed emotions to overwhelm you not knowing you had lost touch with reality.

Any issue about rigging should be addressed in the courts and not on the streets.

I am sure yoruba will opt out.

Vote Dele Belgore (ACN) as Kwara State Governor.

If there is a coup that will mark the end of Nigeria because this time the SW wont take it anymore, they will also walk away. The SW has been the holding force in this Nigerian project , if they had aligned with Biafra, Nigeria would have ended since 1967. Shikena

Please just shut your trap and stop fouling the air with your rubbish.

Next thing you'll praise ''outsiders'' too for the conduct of free and fair elections in Nigeria, not Nigerians.

We should forget all the work done by civilian regimes like OBJ and Yar'adua to retire compromised officers, re-train and re-orientate the military into a more professional force. No. It is all due to the ''pressure from outsiders'' that the military will not intervene. DUMBITO.

@mikeansy,
do not be decieved. any day we pick up arms, the drone will attack aso rock because they know the truth.
do not forget, gadahfi was the best man to berlesconi before this problem in his country but today, italian soldiers are fighting gadahfi. the western countries know the truth in this country. they know that a one time military president who later became civilian president is now the BOT chairman and will soon become the party chairman in his ambition to remain relevant by force just to cover up his crimes.ppl know how useless our rulers are that nigeria cannot be compared to anyother country of this world.

No fly Zones come to mind!! One thing I love about this election is how it drew out the perfect map of the two countries that would possibly emerge!! That map is simply divided in terms of Sharia states and Non Sharia states. Buhari won the Sharia states and Jonathan won the non Sharia states.

Any coup would put an end to the entity called Nigeria. Its so simple. There would be no need for a war. Calabar would become the new capital and Jonathan would serve as president from there. No need to talk too much.
