Governor Sullivan Chime of the Peoples Democratic Party has been declared winner of the just concluded governor ship election conducted in Enugu state on the 26th of April 2011 by the Independent electoral commission Enugu. Declaring the result at the INEC office Enugu on Wednesday the INEC

governorship returning officer for Enugu, Bathy Okolo who is also the vice chancellor of the University of Nigeria Enugu announced that Chime pulled total of 419,790 votes out of 502,213 total vote cast in the state .



Other governorship candidates declared includes that of labour parties Okechukwu Ezea that has 30,135 votes to take the second position while Daniel Shere of PDC got 29,565 votes to take the third position. Others are Nnaedozie Valentine of Action Congress Party (ACN) scoring 5086 votes, Obinna Obiegue of APGA scoured 2658, Robert Eze of ANPP, scoured 702 votes while the only female contestant under ALP Nkechi Ofor got 368 votes . and Emmanuel nwachukeuoji of PPA got 1o11 votes while the less was the governorship candidate of ADC Fredrick Uzodima who got only 42 votes.

According to the returning officer the total valid votes are 491,138, rejected votes stands at 11,075 and the total vote cast was 502,213, while the registered voters was one million three hundred and twenty seven thousands, one hundred and ninety nine . In his comment to businessday the chairman of Labour Party simply called Afam, who was also the agent of the party when the result was announce , congratulated the winner and INEC saying that in an election like this one person must emerge as the winner while some said that they would study the result before making any comment .

The director general Sullivan campaign organization Festus Uzo thanked every member of Enugu state for their contributions saying that the had work of all the PDP stakeholders really helped the party to make it . He thanked God That the whole thing came out fine after all the struggle ,saying that the people of Enugu has spoken in a stronger terms that governor Chime is the best they have for now and that God has answered them. The governorship returning officer in the state while speaking to journalists after declaring the result was full of praises to the president of the federal republic of Nigeria for giving INEC opportunity to conduct a free a fair election in the country. That in Nigerian and in Enugu state in particular that we come out from announcing a major result like this and every body is smiling away, every body even the losers are happy losing, that is a wonderful thing that has happened to us ,so we should all go and thank god and thank INEC and the president of Nigerian for this great thing to happen to us.ENDS
