[size=14pt]Dangote announces $2m fellowship for young Africans[/size] on MAY 7, 2011 · in HEADLINES Cape Town – President of the Dangote Group Aliko Dangote, yesterday, announced a two million dollar fellowship programme to develop young global leaders from Africa. Dangote made the announcement in Cape Town, South Africa, at a joint news conference he addressed with World Economic Forum (WEF) President Prof. Klaus Schwab. He said the objective of the programme was to increase the engagement of young Africans, especially those in the non-business sector, in the Young Global Leaders (YGL) community programme being run by WEF.  Dangote The fellowship will be awarded to 35 young Africans to assist them compete effectively with their peers from other parts of the world. Dangote said the fellowship, which is to run initially for five years, was very important in integrating African young global leaders into the international arena. He said the beneficiaries would go through training in highly rated international institutions to prepare them well for the task ahead. Prof. Klaus Schwab, who signed for WEF, said he was very proud of the initiative, noting that it would strengthen Africa’s participation in global platforms of the WEF. @LADY T + PARAPHRASE. I just don't understand one thing. Why do you guys hate this man? 1. Is it because he is creating new job opportunities in Nigeria / Africa  or 2. Is it because he didn't steal money like all the other bank managers, especially CECILIA IBRO of OCEANIC BANK and transfer all the funds over seas so he can buy himself mansions worth BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF NAIRA, LOCALLY & INTERNATIONALLY ? or 3. At Madonna and Caritas universities, students (adults) are treated like caged animals. You will not believe that fellow undergraduates will knell a fellow student down or give him or her some sort of punishment in the name of being school functioneries. If you do not resume on the date the school reopen you will pay between 5000-10000 Naira per defaulting day. Students are not allowed to use camera or video or internet compliant phones. There is no form of social interaction between the students especially males and females as they are suppose to maintain decent distance, how do they intend to make them normal human beings yet the schools are very expensive. You require exeat to leave the school. The exeat is given to guys on different days while they give to females on much later day to avoid collusion. Its a pathetic situation. Yet one student told me a reverend father indecently approached her. At the university gate gatemen harass visitors and students not to go too close to visitors.  |

Whether he owes Banks money or not at least he is giving back to the society. How about those who stole and are stacking milions in other peoples countries and helping them develop it in process? It is definitely a commendable gesture. We need more entrepreneurs, since our leaders can't seem to figure out ways to make people productive. |

Laudable initiative by Dangote. First and foremost, he is a capitalist who is in business to make money. It is good thinking that he is giving back to the societies he is making money from. The bloke is a Pan African player. At least something good is coming out of Nigeria for other Africans, not just Nigerian benefitting from the goodwill of other countries. This is good PR for the country. |

nice, gesture. but we need him to give back more directly into the Nigerian society since bulk of his wealth was made from it. he should emulate the likes of bill gate, warren buffet etc. The likes of otedola, akande, adenuga should also do d same. taking an example from the gov. elect of imo state Rochas Ewele okoracha, he gave back to his people heavily even when he never had the intention of going into politics. this really helped him as d people stood firmly by him during the contest. we would appreciate if they dooooooo |
