Good evening great minds of Nairaland. Please i need your honest contribution.
I currently work with a private clearing company that pays me weekly allowance of #30,000 - #35,000 and a monthly salary of #60,000 totalling 180 - 200 thousand every month.
However, I was among successful shortlisted candidates of a paramilitary agency recruitment exercise of the FG as a BSC holder.
I made enquiry on the start up pay and discovered is around #75,000- #83,000 for my level entry.
I don't know if i should go for the federal job with a lesser pay or remain with my current job.
NB: Date to resume to the training camp for the FG job is just around the corner.
Honest thought are welcome.

Yes I know. Have been doing my own business since 2006, is only unproductive set of people that like salary work. Only a wise person will understand what am saying

No need insulting peeps who decide to work. Whether self employed or salaried, ones effort should be appreciated. Many who believe in being on their own have tried and failed. That doesn't make them a failure though. I believe in self employment too.

The best advice is for you to go for the FG job. In it you can be doing business, have free time for yourself and as well as grow education wisely. It is only in government work you have the opportunity to further your education. The current company can fold up tomorrow while FG work is sure for the next 35yrs with carrier growth and politicial appointment as well. With FG work you can grow to a level where you help other people through appointments and even control your current company as well. Go and take the 100k+ salary and readjust your lifestyle. Best of luck

See the kind of advise you're giving the OP. To already have the mindset of embezzlement even before he or she joins the federal establishment. And I won't be surprised if you're amongst those abusing politicians the most here on NL.

To me fed govt job is over hyphed

The reasons of its over hyped is pension. Let it be known that with introduction of contributory pension scheme on Nigeria in 2014 had made private sector job lucrative. So, no need to go for fed job because same conditions are also applicable in private sector. Just enforce your employer to key you in contributory pension scheme.

Please please please.... I will advice u to take the federal government job now because you might think of money you are earning now is bigger but trust me... What if you are sacked based on rubbish issues issues or the person in charge wants his or her own in your position now, WHAT WILL YOU DO? As for the federal job u can't be sacked unlawfully except u did wrong. Please wit time in federal job u move from level 7-15 at few years interval so does ur pay rises, along with overtime and arrears which is big. Leave the private job and take the government job and you will thank me later

In the short run, you may enjoy the FG job but it’s not good in the long run. It incapacitates everything that can make you thrive independently. FG’s pension is horrible. It dulls your sense of reasoning and turns you to a mediocre. It is for lazy people - people who don’t want challenges.
It is not job security that would build your future for you. Working for government would even make you a chronic thief and more corrupt person. You can take the FG’s job if you don’t care about the kingdom of God.

Many of those "unproductive set of people" can buy that your business that is shacking you 2 times over.

You think salary workers are those ones you pay 20k or only the people earning 40k? Get off your high horse and realize that not everyone wants to go into business.

Don’t mind him. I have entry level managers in my company who are on N2.5m a month. It is because most people don’t/didn’t start their careers well. That’s why they earn poorly. And also, a lot of employees are afraid of moving leaving one job for another. If not because I have decided I am not working for people in Nigeria again, I would have resumed for a job that pays N15m per annum this last Thursday July 1st 2021. I have gotten similar jobs like that but I am tired of office work generally.
So OP shouldn’t look down on people that earn salaries o. I have ogas that earn up to N80m per annum and they are just Band C directors.

For the upteenth time, I have asked. How do some people still get government jobs andthere is no advert of recruitemenr anywhere? Where there is advert, and tests and interview, outsiders get recruited, leaving out those who have made all efforts at written tests and interview. There has been denial of recruitment exercise here and there. Among victims of this malace are the minority tribes of this country. Who will help the minority in this country now? This country na waah!!!!!
