Taking it from this point of view,
Most Christian theologians argue that in Matthew 19:3–9 and referring to Genesis 2:24 Jesus explicitly states a man should have only one wife,
Further, if a man is married, he and his wife are "one flesh."
To add another wife would mean that the new wife becomes "one flesh" with the man and his current wife.

A 34-year-old fish farmer, Ekpe Akpove from Igbide in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State married two wives on Saturday, August 14.

The traditional ceremonies took place at the respective homes of the brides. A wedding reception is held at the groom's father’s compound.
