Not defending any network but the rate of data consumption is higher these days. When Facebook started, there was no Facebook live, stories etc, same for WhatsApp, Instagram etc.

You want to watch tiktok videos, stream 'what God can not do doesn't exist' for 1hr etc. on 1gb

The local apps on your phone consume data no matter how small. With 4g, 5g, expect your data to drain faster.

The networks too should do better.

After back to back subscription of MTN 400gb men I went fiber radio 25k true unlimited every month. Because my smart tv and the whole house is in it, data is the new oxygen. These smart devices are consuming more data because of AI, they run apps in the background that learn your usage behavior in other to tailor a personalized user experience. Facebook videos, Instagram as a whole, Snapchat WhatsApp video call the list is endless me I have stopped calculating

I ain't disputing the fact that mobile phone subscriptions doesn't last any longer. A clarity check on most of those complaining have almost all the apps running in the background.
Instagram, Facebook, Binance twitter etc. Email and WhatsApp run active when not restricted. Most phone users leave the notification bar on some apps active and complain of data fraud by network providers.
