That is good step, at least it will create employment opportunities for the citizens of our country

Creating employment for a very few that may not even be qualified since quota system is being used.

[s]What is nice about creating 2 more universities in a state?
Can't we create industries that will create job for millions of jobless youths and numerous graduates that graduate from universities and polytechnic on daily basis ?

In China, Dubai and other serious countries, they have more industries than universities, but in Nigeria reverse is the case.[/s]
You're not from the south east and its not your business how we choose to develop, so just getat afonjaa

Those critical of the idea of States having multiple universities do not seem to understand the idea. States can have multiple universities, the new style is to build make the new State universities as expensive as private universities so that the State does not spend money in maintaining them. Those universities are meant for the rich people in or out of the State who can afford it, the facilities are topnotch etc. If u are too poor and unable to attend these State owned but privately run universities, then go to the proper state or federal public universities where public funding is available to reduce the cost of university education for indigent people

It's a welcome development, but the fact that you create more universities, while the state university is going down the drain,is total madness.
Opening a new one, when you can't take care of the old one is stupidity.

I agree with you absolutely, we need more industries than universities.

What nonsense is this, how can Gov. Umahi be seeking for approval of what should ordinarily be departments in a conventional university...can Ebonyi state even afford to fund and operate two universities when they can't even complete an airport..he thinks funding university is the same as running to Aso rock cap in hand begging for assistance to complete and acquire equipment for an ordinary airport project.

How many years is remaining in his tenure to start such projects, I think Dave Umahi is seeking for funds to steal to finance his presidential aspirations thesame reason fingers are pointing at him in the controversial and messy AfDB financed Ebonyi ring road project.

Why are humans insatiable? A governor builds, complain, he does nothing, still complain. Must it be government that would run those schools? Can’t he hand it over to private expertise or even the church to run them? Or is it because he is in APC?

Industries are created by graduates who received good and quality education from tertiary academic institutions.

Government does not create industries, but provides good environment for people, including you, to create industries.

Howmany have you and your family created?

You were telling us bogey tales of China and Japan with more industries than universities. As if China and Japan are in another planet only you have gone to.

Industries in Japan and China were not created by their governments. Entrepreneurs created the industries.

If you had asked that your gov Umahi to create good environments for Entrepreneurs in Ebonyi state, instead of your desire for the governor to put a cap to the number of people that can receive university education in Ebonyi state...

Ebonyi people need to be transformed from the "ndi ogu ukwu" we knew them for, to "ndi mechanized farming." They need more universities to get to the stage of "ndi mechanized farming."

Don't mind the senseless state governors.
Majority of the new universities are business centres.

We don't need new universities, but new campuses of the existing universities in every local government to make them within the reach of those who want higher education.

Another sound mind.

The faculties of the proposed new universities can still be part of the existing universities in Ebonyi state but the new faculties can be scattered all over the local government areas of the state. This saves money from hiring new VCs and Deans of faculties and Registrars, and ........etc for the new universities.

Those are not just universities he is creating but research centres which are critical for any industrial development in a state or country. Kudos to him.

this the type of people that will want to rule Nigeria. In the country you are comparing how many universities do they have per a million school population. Government focus should be to build a good business environment and no to build companies

Umahi, Where are the bodies of the 5 Engineers you declared dead? Wicked soul
You connived with some of your barbaric citizens to kidnap and kill them cos they refused doing your bidding in a project that wasn't initiated by you, saying they didn't tell you they will be working in that location so you would have provided them with security. A location they have been working at with no issue till your greed sets in
I hear say him airport collapsed and kill 5 engineers?
