The Forked Tongue Of Edwin Clark. by omenkaLives(m): 10:27am On Jan 30, 2022
Sometime in April 2021, it was reported the Niger Delta leader Edwin Clark has thrown his weight behind the push for the emergence of a president of Igbo extraction. The news was recieved with much excitement as political pundits from the East imagined the comments of Clark is representative of the mood of the region with respect to 2023.

So far, two candidates with vast political following from the East have indicated their intention to run for the coveted office. First is Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra state and vice presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 election. The second is former Senate President and former SFG Anyim Pious Anyim.

We are exceedingly sure Clark is aware of the intentions of both men. Therefore it is only expected that he gives his support to either of them. But that is not to be, as the old fox has made a volte face, saying of there's no southern consensus, Saraki,
would have his support.

This is coming in less than a year after his expression of commitment to the Igbo push for presidency. What more are the Easterners to expect from those who leverage on their support to gain prominence only to shove them aside when the time of harvest comes?

Edwin has always been a charlatan…. Looking at the Niger delta region where he hails from especially his own delta state.

Daddy Clark is not interested in wasting his support. I mean, why waste time and resources in supporting a candidate that can never win?

Supporting an Igbo candidate for president in 2023 is like putting huge money in a confirmed unprofitable venture. Head or tail, you will still lose. All serious political leaders know this.

His dedication is to PDP candidates, as a PDP stalwart. He won't support Dave from APC against a PDP candidate from ANY REGION for that matter. That is why my focus is on the listed candidates.

Omenka, he is right and he has spoken as an elder statesmen. You don’t expect Edwin Clark to support multiple Igbo presidential candidates from PDP. Will he support one and leave the other? He’s only indirectly saying Igbos should rally round and support just one candidate. If there’s no consensus candidate from the South, then with all maturity, he should support Saraki.

Btw, I think he should tow the path of Obasanjo and retire from politics.

He is right? What is wrong with him throwing his support behind either of them? Who says he must support multiple candidates?

And why should he support Saraki without a consensus? Arent you people the ones who claim Obi is the best candidate there is in all those who've declared intention? Are you saying Saraki can do a better job than Obi? Is this to mean you people lied about Obi's competence?

When he said it is the time of Igbos to produce the president, did he say so with a caveat? Do you people even believe in yourselves when you claim the next president should be Igbo? Because if you justify this, that is exactly what you're saying invariably.

You guys are known to flip flip alot. In one breath you support ipob that seeks the balkanization of the republic, in another breath, you claim right to the presidency. I wonder if it is the ashes of the republic you hope to rule over.

Smh.

OmenkaLives I beg to disagree.Pa Edwin Clark is absolutely right. The South be it Igbo,Yoruba or any other ethic down south must present a consensus candidate. That way we'll have a fighting chance against the North.

The Igbos coming forward with different candidates won't,and to a larger extent the South, help our quest to get to Aso Rock.

Oga o, we all know only a single candidate would emerge on the pdp ticket, (or any other party's ticket for that matter, since a party cant fly multiple presidential candidates) IF the east secures the party's ticket.

Now, we all know NO OTHER CANDIDATE from any other political platform would come close to the pdp candidate in terms of support from Easterners. Even Ikemba couldnt get more votes than the pdp candidate (who wasnt even from the east for that matter) in the east when he ran for election. So there's no risk of splitting eastern votes between multiple eastern candidates on different platforms. It will ALWAYS BE AN ALL PDP AFFAIR as for as presidential election is concerned in the east.

Now, what stops Clerk from saying he'dsupport such a candidate or even ensure an Igbo man secures the party's ticket?

Can you people see your defence lacks even the slightest of logic? undecided

you’re being sentimental with biased emotions because you are an Igbo hater. This is the reason you’re concerned more on the Igbo candidates rather than Edwin Clark’s choice. Clear yourself of the hate you have on Igbos and you will understand Edwin Clark.

Nonsense.

Who creates more hateful threads insulting all tribes, from north to south on the forum and beyond than your brethren? From Ohanaeze to the lowliest Okoro in the streets of Aba, it's the same attitude. And you got the nerve to come here telling me about hate. Pathetic.

Saraki is technically from the South anyway, but that's another topic.

Has there been a strategic and aggressive drive from the SE so far, apart from insulting everyone else?Have any political aspirant from the SE consulted him like Saraki did? These are questions we should ask.

He can't just wake up and support anyone.

Didn't he realize he cant just wake up and support anyone before making the initial declaration? Besides, is the time for "consultations" over? If Obi were to consult with him tomorrow, is he then to make another u turn?

But I wasn't that surprised he dumbed ibos for Saraki. He knows ibos stand no chance in hell to pick up the ticket in PDP, it was same sentiments Bode George expressed in his recent interview.
I only wondered how we "SS/SE "was quickly thrown in the mud before the game began. The earlier ibos realize how insignificant they are, the better for them.

Ask your annoying Igbo brothers who go about insulting and looking down on others in the SS.There are so many of us who did like the Igbos and were more comfortable around them despite their god mentality.

Recently, the brainwashing from IPoB has turned them into something else, hence the rapid growing hatred for the Igbos amongst the SS tribes.

You honestly sound like a broken record. So you came at me with that comment thinking I'd let it pass?

Didn't you realize we had to stick to the topic before bringing up the accusation of hate? Or is hate against Igbo any part of the topic?

Always look before you leap next time. Goodbye.
