Founding National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has said that prospects of the South East to have the Presidency next year was gloomy in view of the desires of the likes of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, for the office.

Okorie said he does not see any Igboman or southeasterner in the two major political parties, APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winning the ticket of either of the parties to contest for the exalted office.
His reason is that those claiming to be members of the two parties from the zone are not major stakeholders in any of them.

Okorie, however, said it is only through the APGA that the desire to have an Igbo become President of Nigeria in 2023 will be realised.
“It is not looking good for us in the South East with Atiku and Tinubu and even someone like the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, declaring their interests to contest for the office while the Igbo dream about having their turn.

“Political parties are owned by certain individuals who in turn invite members of the public to join in order to win elections and I do not see any Igboman in APC or PDP belonging to the core stakeholders’ forum of any of them,” he said.

makamabigrac:
Chief Okorie, the only threat to SE presidency and by extension equity in Nigeria, is BAT. While Atiku is the most detrabalised aspirant today, BAT on the other hand is an ethnic and religious champion.

I think the Igbos should leave Politics alone and focus on business only. It is from one complain to another.

To be sincere, Igbo Presidency is not likely to come to fruition in 2023.

They don't have influencial personality like Atiku and Tinubu in PDP & APC

It might sound like this man is trying to sell his party APGA but what he said is nothing but the truth.

As for APC, the Southeast should not expect to have an Igbo presidential aspirant because the Southeast have always voted against the APC.

As for PDP, the Southeast have always given them their votes for the past 24 years but I don't know what the PDP have given the Igbos in return.

shocked

Let's stop making Tinubu and Atiku feel so good about themselves.
The only threat to the Igbo presidency are the Igbos themselves.

When the Igbos decide they are ready to have a President, then they will have a President.

Oshea, this guy should calm down, he is politically irrelevant, we have igbos both in APC and PDP like puis anyim, umahi, maduka etc that can rule this country, these two are threat today because of how much they looted from the public funds, are we saying that only thieves who had billions are the only ones qualified to rule Nigeria, if we really need change this greedy old folks will be retired from politics in the primaries even before the main elections next year but if we are not tired of living like slaves in this country, we can continue to give them attention and vote for them
