Well I will go and learn a skill while search for another job. Currently I want to learn tailoring by next month till December let me see how well it will go. I'll combine the both. My work is a field work so I'll have time. Once I visit those on the field, my work don end for the day. So I want to utilize my day, weeks and month learning a skills.

If you no get strong back bone and reliable support system, SAPA no dey allow person learn at all.

Did you experience retrenchment then? I had a friend who lost his job in 2015, and if it wasn't for the grace of God, he would have transitioned into the afterlife. He lost his job with months of no payment for works done, had a new born baby and also a quit notice.

He is now a big man, but it wasn't easy at all. Just common 1k naira, e fit salute me 5 times .

Not funny at all, done with nysc last year November, and it was as if i was sacked really....but thank God..I got my first job via nairaland here. .and today is my first day at work sef.....apart from transportation wahala...my job seems cool and sweet for a fresh graduate ( pay isn't much tho) .

Personally iit don't scare me anymore wau back in 2010 I resigned from my first JOB stay home for 1 year trying to jump ship to another country, it didn't work due to corruption in the country same year I job another job....so on like that. The point is life will always give you.a.purpose if you look closely enough. Now I'm self-employed✔ the journey had not been smooth however,. It adventurous. My advice is if you ever lost your dont drop hope. the best is yet to come and life will always give you a.reason to keep smiling. Yes you can do it. Only believe

E no easy, lost my banking job in 2018, got another one in 2021, i hearam, thank God i have a supporting wife, later she started complaining but God was there, i lost respect even people dey avoid but i focused on God and he did it, glory to God.

I have met couple of guys who had lost their jobs , and it was not funny at all. They tend to be somewhat miserable.

It is never something anyone would wish for their enemies. Even the ones who have managed to build their own houses are not equally spared as I recently met one and had this great pity on him .

Even to my enemies, I would not want to see them in such state as reality always dawns on people when they experience retrenchment. Most people could tell you one thousand and one ways they would have improved their lives if given a second chance, but the truth is it's like comparing theory with practical. Both can never be the same.

Everyone cannot be an entrepreneur hence I would advise we all go into it.

Now to my question, how would you practically avoid this miserable state especially if you are earning now, or how have you avoided it in the past?

Graduated August last year....my boss got a little building contract then he handled it to me as a site supervisor because he works with a top construction company here in Benin City he is not always free to leave his place of work...So I left my school area and landed in Benin City,then rented an apartment.we thought the project will last till I receive my Nysc call up letter which never did. It only lasted for 2months because the client became so broke.
From that very time till now,I have been out of job. ASUU went on strike so no hope on going on Nysc for now because our result is not yet out.
I tried applying for jobs around but the pay can't even foot my T-fair for the month.
Bills keep piling up.
My side hustle back in school is not available because students are not around �.


Na God I just dey pray� to everyday for breakthrough.

1. learn a Hand/person/outside office Skill (might look Demeaning to you...but Generates income) eg.Uber
2. Save a much as you can when the Going is Good....(min of 30% of your Salary) I know its not Easy

Very good to convert part of the active income to Investment that will generate passive income. If we don't make money while sleeping, we will work till we die.


Job loss can be through retrenchment, sickness, accident, permanent disability etc. So how can one survive if these unexpected situations should happen
