Is not about pay but honor . They are proud of carrying that award, I heard it's a lineage assignment, he will be greatful passing it down to his child.

Olu of Worri is not a small king!

Those were actually bodyguards with sharp Swords in history

Now it's ceremonial

A stupid job for a modern grown man, he can't even do anything with that thing other than carry it

Same goes for other Kings

But Hausa fulani dongaris still carry actual swords, seen them in Ilorin

[quote author=qekng40 post=111515185]Whats the meeting all about?

OBJ, the beginning of Nigeria's Wahala.

If he'd done it right, others would have followed suit! cool[/quote

What is the relevance of that to the Olu of Warri-visitation now?
We may not like OBJ manner of economic and political approach, you will agree with me that he preserved our Culture and traditions more than any other modern day Politicians!
In actual fact,he reduced Nigeria Debt to Zero during his time. So,how did we borrowed up to Trillion now?
Everywhere he goes,he is always in Nigeria attire and with the likes of Mrs Ngozi Iweala.
Kudos to them!

You always comment in a way that commands admirable respect, boss. Regardless of your political leaning (which I may not agree with cheesy), I respect you as an Omoluabi and intelligent human being.. That said, we can avoid land grabbing allegations by others that we are trying to swallow up our Itshekiri Yoruba kin and Kith if we do not say they are Yorubas. We allow them autonomy of identity and still have them back within the Yoruba cultural fold. I am even dreaming of an autonomous Yoruba Commonwealth inside or outside Nigeria when the present arrangements inevitably collapse and we eventually become a confedracy or divided cool
LegendHero:
I like what Olu of Warri is doing. He is moving closer to the source and engaging with the Yorubas as it should be.

We also need to reciprocate the effort with utmost respect by also sending one of our kings on a visit to Warri to just continue to cement the bond.

However, while doing this we must not try to say they are Yoruba. But we can always mutually recognize the bond of source that bound us both together and build a greater alliance going forward.

God bless Olu of Warri.
God bless Itshekiri people.
God bless the Yorubas
God bless our lovers home and away.

APC failed in every section. They came and legalized insecurity, Boko Haram, Bandit and Kinapping. They destroyed the education, health and unity of Nigeria. They brought hardship to Nigerians while being generous to Niger Republic and Afghanistan. APC is demonic and useless party. All APC supporters are useless and senseless. You must be insane for supporting APC. Go to hell, that is where you and other APC supporters belong.

I usually don't really have a thing for kings but this one, I doff my hat for him. He commands a lot of respect and has a great carriage for royalty. Dude is super intelligent too.

I'm not Itsekiri but I love this king and may his reign last long and bring development to Iwerre land.

What do you know? No one is a paragon, no one is perfect except God. Obasanjo is not perfect but he is the only President who had strived to save this country. Take it or leave it.

First time in a LONGGGG WHILE (since this body odor administration) I'm seeing Obasanjo smiling while with guests.

Noticed he is always 100% deferential to any local royalty, no matter how young, he will prostrate fully for you. I respect that. And even better, when with foreign dignitaries, he then shows his pride and prominence as an elder and 1st class African president - they are then the ones to show him homage. Chai.

Pay him homage because they have something to collect from him, thereafter he is just one of the most inferior race on earth despite us being equally endowed as the whites and the Asians with the same 24 hours.

Check this quote made by Lord Lugard in 1926.
Any of these ring a bell?

"In character and temperament, the typical African of this race-type is a happy, thriftless, excitable person. Lacking in self control, discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving weapons as an oriental loves jewellery. His thoughts are concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future, or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to the animal world than that of the European or Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals’ placidity and want of desire to rise beyond the State he has reached. Through the ages the African appears to have evolved no organized religious creed, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural"

“He lacks the power of organization, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility , he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct rather than a moral virtue, In brief, the virtues and defects of this race-type are those of attractive children, whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy, Perhaps the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future."

---Lord Frederick John Dealty Lugard, The Dual Mandate, pg.70 (1926)

Though I don't know this king in person but I just like him. I love every free thinking Nigerian those who do not know what colour tribalism has.

Nice one. God bless you the king and God punish those useless tribalist insulting him and asking why he went to SW and not their region or their hateful bollock village.
