For the fuel issue, you need to replace the catalyst It will reduce the fuel consumption issues. On scanning, you need a rewire. |

Finobravo: Did you changed the spark plugs recently? Is either wrong spark plugs or no catalytic converter in your exhaust manifold. |

YOUR CAR DOESN'T HAVE A CATALYST THATS WHY ITS CONSUMING. INSTALL A CATALYST AND YOU WILL SEE THE DIFFERENCE. I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE....I ALSO BOUGHT MY HONDA ACCORD WITHOUT A CATALYST AND I HAD THIS SAME CONSUMPTION ISSUE TILL I BOUGHT A NEW CATALYST AND INSTALLED IT.

DryMouth: Agreed, the next thing for him to do is to fix catalyst back to the exhaust system, and have the O2 sensors checked and monitored for effectiveness and the only way to monitor all sensors on both intake and exhaust system of the vehicle will be through scanning. |

Finobravo:there's a leakage in your fuel lines. thoroughly check it, from tank to nozzles. ignore the "cats" comments, you'd just waste a lot of money for nothing. the catalytic converter has absolutely nothing to do with it. 6 Likes |

Since they is no catalyst ,it must surely consume more fuels. The best u can do,to stop the fuel consumption,is to fix another catalyst so that u will be free from the fuel consumption 1 Like |

I’m not sure you’d have peace without that catalyst. I use a 2005 EOD. Even bad plugs can tip the fuel consumption. 1 Like |

Zane2point4: Mine had the same issue this week, with black soot in the exhaust. I scanned it with a scanner I purchased some months ago, and the scanner code read Fuel rail pressure sensor. I got the sensor for 7k and it was an easy fix. I gave the mechanic just 500naira because he has been the one working for me and the device needed just two screws off to replace it..right there on top of the engine. Now the car runs fine. 2 Likes 1 Share |

My car is a V6 EOD with no charcoal and my fuel consumption is about same with yours. So my first suspect to the fuel consumption is the catalyst converter and about the car not scanning means the scanners are not connecting to the brainbox so the culprit to that might be in your fuse box or the brainbox itself. So have a rewire check the wiring and all fuse are working then narrow it down to brainbox replacement. and then to fuel, replace the charcoal which are two of them for your I4 engine and ensure all sensors connected are functioning. Scan the car for any further error relating to emission or fuel pumps and injectors. The way I am looking at it, you will be spending about 150k if brainbox is faulty or maybe less. 1 Like |
