It's obvious you are not even born again yet. You can't even be a disciple of Christ without doing that first let alone become Spirit filled. Bro, please do humbly repent today. Arguing the scriptures will do you no good. It's futile. Please go and read John 3:3-6 “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God … Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” John 3:3-6.
Yes, Jesus Christ said except a man be born-again, He can't enter into the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom not of this world, through either of two gates - the Broad gate which leads to destruction aka Hell and the Narrow gate which leads to True life(Heaven) - Matthew 7 vs 13 - 14 and Luke 13 vs 22 - 28 . . The same Jesus Christ then explained to you how He is King in the Kingdom of God over both Heaven and Hell, where only those who are born-again can enter - Matthew 25 vs 31 - 46. undecided

So, how can you claim that those who are born-again, many of whom will end up in Hell, are true disciples of Jesus Christ? undecided

You can as well add this to it "you can't work with any private organization or government set up in Nigeria and be a true Christ-follower" because in these places, heavy politics is being played and most of their policies, visions, and missions all have atoms of diplomacy. To you, a true Christ-follower can't get involved in Nigerian politics, to me, it is possible.
Besides the model that Jesus, Peter, Paul and the early Christians left by being politically neutral, a true Christian cannot be actively involved in politics as it is today and remain a true Christian.

He could die young.
He would certainly not succeed in the politics unless he played it like it's been played today.
He's to go dirty no matter what.

Na naija we dé. Your not a kid you should know that.

1. Reconciling The Sacred Values And The Secular Ethos
Politics affects everyone- whether we admit it or not. No matter how much you try to impact society, if you don't become a bit political through your interventions, that impact will never be felt. This is because the political world is animated by considerations of power, justice and other issues that affect the general society.

If Christians don't get involved in partisan politics, then, they are in more ways than one acquiescing to the misdeeds of the misfits and no-usefuls who take over.

2. Let's go ecclesiastical: Joseph was a prime minister- the first agro-economist in the world. Daniel was also a prime minister. He served three kings, Mordecai started as a slave, then later became a prime minister. Nehemiah was a butler and a governor. David was a king, a politician and a stateman.

3. It's left for you as a Christian to define who you'll be through your character. You play the political game without allowing the tenets of your faith and attachments to be eroded away by the corrupting influence of the dark art- politics.

4. Daniel was ten times wiser than the so called wise men of Mesopotamia, Persia and the surrounding nations. In fact, so pervasive and influential were his outstanding qualities as a leader and person that historians and Bible scholars have coined the term, The Daniel Spirit- the spirit of excellence.
1. So what you insinuating is that since Jesus Christ paid taxes but never engaged in the politics of his day beyond that, He, Jesus Christ in doing so acquiesced to the misdeeds and the no-usefuls of his time? undecided

2. These men you list here were not Christians nor were they called to live by the standards of the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom not of this here world, which you are instead called by Jesus Christ to live by. undecided

3. This against who Jesus Christ commands you become instead? Because what you are insisting here that Christians do is that they serve a master other than Jesus Christ. No follower of Jesus Christ can be loyal to Him and loyal to the world(system of politics) at the same time. undecided

4. Daniel and all the other you continue to mention were called to serve God in this world. The standard He gave to them was of this world since what He gave them was a Constitution for the Nation of Israel in the Land of Canaan, what we know as God's Old Covenant Law of Moses. undecided

God's New Covenant Law, Jesus Christ, is instead a different and Higher standard meant for a Kingdom not of this world, the Kingdom of God.. undecided

However the way God brings His people into serving humanity on the other hand has always been out of necessity, for instance, when the people have suffered enormously over a protracted period of time or endured great calamity or are in great peril that their souls are shredded and open to accepting His ways and receiving His people.... and from all indications Nigerians are not there yet, our matter is still on the stove, gradually boiling...

No that's outdated. Talk about Jesus (Christians model) and his disciples and the early church generally.
Did they participate in politics?
No they didn't.

Jesus said "my kingdom is not of this world".
Jesus never stop or said his followers should not participate in politics. Please stop creating such notion. My kingdom is not of this world does not imply that Christian should stay away from politics.

Matthew 11:12, tells us about the kingdom of God suffering violence by the wicked rulers of this world right from the day of John the Baptist till now. Remember John was captured and kill by Herod. Jesus implies in Matthew 11:12 that if Christian don't take the government by force then they will suffer more attack of violence.

Let me tell you, these Muslims you see all have an Islamic agenda against the Christian. And if there's no Christian in politics that would be shariah laws be put in place, which would restrict you from serving God.

Politics is never a sin in the Bible. It is the lie of the devil for Christian to stay away from politics so he can rule and destroy Christians in particular.

Not trying to hold brief for anyone but Jesus Christ here...

1. But the moment you became born-again, you gave up your citizenship of this world to instead become a citizen of the Kingdom of God abiding only by God's New Covenant and Law, Jesus Christ, in the Kingdom of God. For that reason even Jesus Christ confirmed this when He proclaimed that you are in this world but you are not of this world.

The same Jesus Christ said of those who belong to Him, that they cannot serve God and another master, in this case the political systems of this world - Matthew 6 vs 24 undecided

He also decreed that rather than serve the political systems of this world, His followers should instead serve the others in the same way that He did - Matthew 20 vs 24 - 28. The Jesus Christ we know never ventured nor concerned Himself with the politics of this world so why would anyone who belongs to Him choose to serve under the system of this world? .. undecided

2. The Romans, during Jesus Christ's day also had an agenda which was against God and eventually against His own followers, but that didn't cause Jesus Christ to involve Himself in politics nor did He concern Himself with the issues of Government of His time. So why do you think that as a follower of Jesus Christ, you should do that which Jesus Christ instructed you against doing? undecided

3. Indeed politics is not sin as it is simply of this world and not of Kingdom of God. However, since Jesus Christ commanded His disciples not submit themselves to these systems of this world, and also instructed them not to engage in the political systems of the Gentile world, it is sin for anyone who is a follower of Jesus Christ to disobey His commandment in this.. undecided

MasonKendall:

And who is a true Christian?
A true Christian is the person who has made Jesus of Nazareth the man known as CHRIST his role model.
The group name "CHRISTIANS" was derived from the title "CHRIST" and in the Bible the man called Jesus of Nazareth was believed by his followers to be the CHRIST due to the way he lived his life after baptism.
His disciples were fully convinced that Jesus is the Son of God {Matt 16:13-16} this is so because throughout history no human has perfectly reflected God's attributes like this young Jewish carpenter {John 1:18} but then no human can perfectly be like him, why? Because Jesus is not from this planet {John 8:23} unlike all other humans Jesus never inherited imperfection from Adam so his brains, body, feelings, emotions and thoughts were perfect.
If that's the case with Jesus of Nazareth known as "CHRIST" then how come imperfect humans can rightly be called "CHRISTIANS" Act 11:26
Well it's because Jesus left behind a legacy for his disciples (followers) and strictly warned them never to deviate from it {John 14:23; 15:14 compare to Luke 9:62} this legacy was hard because his friends were normal humans like everyone else so how are they going to cope with the standard Jesus laid down? Jesus made them understand that they must work together as a team if they want to succeed in living by his rules {Matt 18:20 compare to Hebrew 10:24-25} the task he gave them was to gather subjects ready for him throughout the world in preparation for his inevitable coming Kingdom (government) Matt 28:18-20
So they must preach (plead with their neighbours) and teach whoever give them a listening ear how life will be in God's Kingdom.

In Satan's world WEAPONS are used for forceful subjection of citizens to live by rules but Jesus ruled out forceful rulership which is what we know today as POLITICS by telling his disciples never to use force in setting standards among themselves nor for others outside their group {Matt 26:52} that's why they were know back in the first century as CHRISTIANS since they're always easygoing ever willing to subject themselves under any government and never seen struggling for the first place in the society:

"and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave" Matt 20:27

So whenever people in the first century notice this group with this teachings they quickly remember that man known as "CHRIST" that's why they began calling them"CHRISTIANS" Act 11:26

Today many people have been misinformed about Jesus of Nazareth, they don't even know what he taught talkless thinking of how to live by his teachings, hence discussion like this are raised "Can A true Christian be actively involved politics?"

Going by what we learned through the study of Jesus' life and ministry, and the manner his disciples back then humbly conducted themselves in the society the sincere and honest answer to this question is capital NO!

Thanks! smiley

1. I am not here be to preach or explain Paul whose letters were, all of them, written to a primarily Jewish Christian audience but now hijacked by Gentiles majority of whom have no understanding of the Jewish background and so miscontrue Paul's message to his Jewish brethren. For example, the grace and righteousness Paul wrote of was primarily in reference to the Jews and God's Old Covenant Law of Moses debt which they owed until Jesus Christ paid it for them - nothing to do with Gentiles. undecided

Anyways, Jesus Christ is the one whom I serve and it is Jesus Christ who is King and Law - God's New Covenant Law in the Kingdom of God. He is the Law we are called by God to obey. And so what He decrees is Truth in the Kingdom of God. undecided

Is Matthew 11:12 about the world or Nigeria government?

Jesus, Paul, Peter, the rest of Jesus'apostles and the early church, did they participate in politics or were neutral?

We know from the Bible that Satan is the God and ruler of this world. So it wouldn't change anything if some Christians joined politics.
Besides, they would always fail or become like other diabolical political if they really want to succeed.

Politics na your mate abi? grin

Kobojunkie:
1. I am not be to preach or explain Paul whose letters were, all of them, written to a primarily Jewish Christian qudience but now hijacked by hijacked by Gentiles who mostly have no understanding of his Jewish background and so miscontrue his point of view as a result. For instance, the grace and righteousness Paul spoke of was in reference to the Jewish and God's Old Covenant Law of Moses - nothing to do with Gentiles. undecided

Anyways, Jesus Christ is the one whom I serve and it is Jesus Christ who is King and Law - God's New Covenant Law in the Kingdom of God. He is the Law we are called by God to obey. And so what He decrees is Truth in the Kingdom of God. undecided

Wow now I understand you are operating from a ministry of condemnation that you will assume Paul's epistles was not primarily addressed to gentiles.

I don't want to digress but tell me was Yahshua not in Paul when he said we pray to be in peace as well as reign in life? It is here you reign not in heaven.

No wonder people with this mindset acceot His words on persecution but reject His words of signs and wonders.

I accept to been persecuted and miracles as part of His message.

Let me shock you do you know that while Yahshua was on earth the old covenant was still operating?

Meanwhile get your PVC.
