The much ado about a man making Lagos prosperous and friction with my Igbo brothers.

They say someone made Lagos to be a prosperous state and as such , aliens or imigrants like our brothers and sisters from the East should give credit to the man who provided the enabling environment for them to be successful.

Hmmmm, but they didn't tell us that same man was made who he is today by relocating to Lagos from his village

All what he acquired today were through his relationship with Lagos

He is also like every other imigrants .

Infact , some of those we accused of being imigrants were actually born in Lagos and by naturalisation, they are lagosians.

People have been successful in Lagos even before the said man Became gov of Lagos and the people they are tagging as outcast actually contributed immensely to the growth of Lagos as well through their businesses and investments.

If we want to hold the notion that Lagos is made successful by the singular effort of the landlord of Lagos , how come we have lots of people esp the acclaimed omo onile still struggling in Lagos
How come the land didn't single them out and make them successful

How come that the said imigrants are the one even buying the omo onilu family houses and developing it to modern taste
How come that same omo onilu will give the imigrants their family houses to develop as developer for over 20 years while they are paid rental income

The reason for all these is cos someone sees opportunities where we the so call indigenes didn't see

They were hardworking and made use of the opportunity we neglected cos of our ownership mentality

You don't have to accuse them of being ungrateful or challenge them of not going to their base to develop it too

You don't have to create friction with them

It's just like Nigerians traveling abroad , they see themselves first as imigrants , they start looking for opportunities and even do jobs that so call citizens won't dare do

And before you say jack , they have buy houses and become employers of same people who are citizens of that country

The main reasons for this is cos they saw opportunities where citizens or indigine didn't see

And if they see , they are acting bigmanism cos of omo onilu mentality

That's why even an aboki will come to Lagos with nylon bag and become wealthy with time .

They do those jobs we see as dirty jobs and with time , they begin to create wealth

Same thing is applicable to NIGERIANS who go abroad with just a Ghana must go bag

With time, they become wealthy and a threat to the lazy indigenous people or citizens

Instead of having frictions with imigrants , why not ask them to show you ways or opportunities as long as it's legal

Stop blaming your inability to make it on others

And one more thing, if you Travel to any country or state and you didn't see an Igbo man there ... Please leave on time

It means there is no opportunity there

You can't stop loving them for their industrious lifestyle

Nobody made Lagos but someone improved it.

It's like nobody made Aba, but a few people destroyed it.

Calabar:
On 10 September 1884, Queen Victoria signed a treaty of protection with the king and chiefs of Akwa Akpa, known to Europeans as Old Calabar—then the official title to distinguish it from New Calabar to the east.[6] This enabled the United Kingdom to exercise control over the entire territory around Calabar, including Bakassi.[7] Calabar was the headquarters of the European administration in the Niger Delta until 1906, when the seat of government was moved to Lagos.[6]
