Why is our brother from South east are sounding so dull this days? Lagos IGR can pay their debt off in just one year, please bring up the least indebted state in the south east and let us know how many years their IGR will be able to clear the debt. It's only fools will said a man with 1M salary and 200k debt is more indebted than a man of 100k salary and 80k debt.

There is so much money in Lagos. Some commissioners and head of agencies are in control of more money than some State governors in the North. I wished all these money could work to transform the city. The infrastructure here cannot be compared to its contemporaries in other countries.

Lekki Bridge PPP funded by Julius Berger, Eko Atlantic Chagouri family, Blue line project FG, Lekki Sea port Chinese government Lagos is smallest by Landmass largely covered by siumbs, 3rd worst city to live in

May your wisdom continue to grow in the beautiful mind.
The reckless looting of Lagosians is what Thiefnuibu has shown Buhari who has also increased debts in spite of higher oil prices.

oshozondii:
The Lagos State Government has borrowed over N126 billion domestically in the last quarter of 2021, the Debt Management Office (DMO) has said.

According to a report released by the DMO, Lagos, whose domestic debt stood at N532.12 billion as of September 30, 2021, is now owing N658.95 billion as at the end of December, 2021.

This represents an increase of N126.83 billion in the last three months of the year 2021, according to the DMO.

DAILY POST observed that Lagos is the State with the highest domestic debt figure as of the time under review.

Ogun State comes second with a total of N232.62 billion debt as of December.

Ogun’s debt profile rose from N192.41 billion to N232.62 within three months, making a debt increase of N40 billion.

SB2020:
Interesting facts about Addis Ababa and Lagos light rail projects.

Addis Ababa / Lagos
Cost == $475Million / $1.2Billion
Length == 34km / 27km
Time to Complete == 4years / 7years (projected)
Year Awarded == 2011 / 2008 (Construction began 2010)
Contractor == China Railway Eng. Corp (CREC) /Chinese Civil Eng. Constr. Coy (CCECC)
Population == 5Million / 20Million

Ethiopia has managed to deliver Sub-Saharan Africa’s first modern light rail project which opened in the capital Addis Ababa on Sunday, and in the process, beat Lagos whose own rail project remains four years behind schedule.

Ethiopia’s rail project was delivered on time, despite its being longer than the Lagos – Badagry rail line currently under construction.

Addis Ababa’s two line 34-kilometre system was built by the China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and cost $475m, 85 percent of which has been covered by China’s Exim bank. The Lagos Light Rail Project or Blue on Badagry Expressway, was to have 13 stations from Okokomaiko to Marina via Iddo for a total of 27 kilometres.

The contract was awarded to the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) at the cost of $1.2 billion in 2008, and was to be delivered in 2011. Survey work took one year between August 2009 and August 2010 while construction began July 2010.

The work is being implemented using the public and private partnership (PPP) model, whereby the state builds the infrastructure and the private sector provides the rolling stock and management. However, the project has not worked out according to the plan.
The 2011 deadline was missed, even though the State government got a loan to fund the project.

A 45-year-old resident and father of three, Mr.Fatai Lamide told PUNCH HealthWise that no building in the community has toilet facilities.

The Oyo State-born mechanic said, “We don’t have toilet in this area, including our compound. This canal that you see serves as toilet to all of us living in this area. We defecate inside nylon and throw it inside the canal.

“For people that don’t want to use nylon, they have a special bucket that they use after which they pour it inside the canal too.

The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.

Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

We don’t even need other states to use Alpha Beta to know it is a success story.

Since it was introduced, Lagos revenue keep soaring which is what we needed from it.

If the lying braggart Obi could go on TV to commend himself for investing state money in his personal business, why must we defend the rationale behind giving Alphabeta service fee for collecting the taxes?

Anyone that is not happy with it should relocate to his state where they won’t have Alpha Beta to collect the taxes.

How is alpha beta a success story?

How is alpha beta ensuring that Lagos revenue keeps soaring?

Who owns alpha beta?

So SW is generating more than all the regions combined shocked
The next IGR would be like
1. Lagos
2. FCT
3. Ogun
4. Rivers
5. Delta
6. Oyo
7. Kaduna
8. Edo
9. Kano
10.Ondo
11. Anambra
12. A/Ibom
Rivers to pave way for Ogun state
Oyo to force Kaduna out
Anambra to knock A/ibom down
Ondo to use Anambra and A/ibom as ladder
It's just a prediction comparing their 2020 and 2021 IGR

Dont use the US in your comparison. The US has the dollar as world reserve currency and so it is artificially inflated. The US will never have to pay it astronomical debt . All it will do is print more paper money. Same cannot be said of any state in Africa.

If it can just print more paper money, why do they take loans in the first place?

Can you see how dumb your analysis is?

Lagos most is most indebted state in Nigeria yet most of the projects are being finance by FG
Really ? Such as ? DO you know the meaning of the word MOST?
FYI

The CBN IS A BANK

It is NOT the FG
Even the FG borrows from the CBN and it MUST BE REPAID

The CBN intervenes all over the country and it should not be conflated with the Federal Government.

The Government does not make decisions for the CBN just like Sanusi under Goodluck Jonathan supported Kano. It was NOT The FG

The World Bank has many schemes in Nigeria just like the African Development Bank

Educate yourself how these things work

Why is it that IPOB terrorists generally are bitter people?

Lagos recorded that high lead and instead of at least commending the government on the topic, you had to smuggle Tinubu in to show your bitterness.

The lunatic Obi the fugitive that governed Anambra couldn’t set up a clear path for the state revenue to grow which led to Soludo borrowing over 100billion in his first 100 days as governor.

USA is the most indebted country in the world, yet they are the number one economy in the world. Loans does not neccessarily mean you are doing bad, it is what you do with the loans that matter.

In Lagos, we are building light rail, something your Igbo governors right from Azikiwe days never dared achieved. We attracted refineries, deep seaports, and etc. while your people continue to hate and hate and hate.

What has your hate led you to?

See finishing here!

I don't care about IGR, it does not translate to quality standard of living. Those states with big IGR are still shit hole, some of the indigenes are still very poor and not better off than those states u mentioned. Until Nigeria is restructured keep ur IGR to yourself. Again those u mentioned as landlock want to go their separate way yet they wouldn't allow them.

That Lagos figure is actually 50% of national total. Meaning Lagos generates half of national revenue. Why is Lagos still a part of Nigeria?

I think it is time we understood that there are limits to what a governor can actually add to the economic prosperity of his state.

A few billions here and there.

The IGR of most states is based on natural resources and infrastructural concentration in those states before now.

Even if the governor of Yobe state is a magician, he can never increase the state IGR to 50b.

Enjoy if your state is well positioned, but let's be logical in comparison and criticisms.
Not true. Ibori is alleged to have stolen hundreds of millions With that money he could have built a sea port and or refinery.
In the long term what brings money is education. If you have an educated population they will generate wealth.
What resources does Japan or Germany have. These two countries were virtually levelled after WW 2 today they are probably number 3 and 4 economies. They have achieved this by the quality of their people not by natural resources.
So if you look at Nigeria we are not very educated but the only region that ever had a coherent long term education strategy was the West which included Edo and Delta and those 2 are among the most educated states in Nigeria but they have been plagued by terrible governors like Ibori and Igbinedion. No ideas no vision
