The vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, on Thursday said his party is not a direct beneficiary of the #EndSARS movement.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Baba-Ahmed, said the Labour Party benefits from a peaceful Nigeria.

He explained that if voted into power in the 2023 general elections, the LP will bring about correcting the mistakes of bad governance as well as positive changes in the country.

“While we are always on the side of good governance, we are against attrition, repression and all those,” he said.

“We are not direct beneficiaries of #EndSARS, we never wanted #EndSARS to happen. We never wanted any Nigerian whatsoever to be attacked. Accordingly, I cannot really say and be happy that we are direct beneficiaries.”

Datti Baba-Ahmed is right. He could have been emotional and took political advantage of the today's EndSars event but he applied rationalism required of a leader. Credit to him.

The truth is that Peter Obi's candidature is a beneficiary of the resolve of young Nigerians to use their numbers to change the existing political order in Nigeria. It happened that it was the same young people that carried out EndSars protest. So there is a link but not direct link. I will call it coincidental link. Note that many young people who took part in EndSars are supporting Atiku and Tinubu and not Peter Obi.

So in effect, Labour Party and it's presidential candidates Peter Obi and Datti Baba Ahmed are NOT direct beneficiaries of EndSars protest but an indirect beneficiaries. QED

Infact, Peter Obi went to court to prevent being summoned to appear before the panel in Anambra.

But his supporters wanted to converge at Lekki toll-gate, instead of converging at the banks of Ezu River to commemorate a real massacre instead of the death of 3 or 4 people in Lagos.

At least, we all now know there were a few regrettable deaths but certainly not a massacre.

Even Baba-Ahmed has confirmed there was no massacre at Lekki toll-gate.
