A man of 40 years may not be good for leadership consideration because of his physical and mental health while a man of 80 years may be physically and mentally ready for leadership position and may or not good for leadership. So it is vice versa depending on how you manage your physical and mental health as you're growing up. Your routine affects your physical and mental health drastically as you grow up and that was what affected both of them.
