Formal Education VS. Informal Creative Merit

We all know the current state of the educational system in this great Land called Nigeria and the absolute love of the “great paper” called “degree certificate.” The parody is that the love of the formal educational qualification has evolved into a scenario where intellectual & rational reasoning has gotten out of the front seat and has entered into the “booth.” As we all may know the sub-standards that exist in some of our educational institutions checkmates to a certain extent, intellectual enlightenment. I can go on and on and on about the ills that exist in this sector and of the “love sub-standard educational cycle” in a world of greater institutions but this is not the focus of this article. My focus here is on the way forward.
For Nigeria to become great, I propose the best educational aesthetic infrastructures must be built and must incorporate an environmentally friendly landscape filled with green lawns, tarred roads, great water network, air-conditioned classrooms and hostel accommodation, 24 hour power etceteras; I need not say more on this as we all have some certain inclination as humans on what must be done. Next all hostel accommodations must be billed to students on a monthly basis in order to mitigate financial sufferings on students. All classrooms must have video-conferencing equipments and internet ready computer structures with these audio-visual information technology structure linked with real life education as well as theoretical education. Real life education in the sense of audio visual practical teachings from i.e. viewing a technology engineering company somewhere in the world constructing automotive mechanics needed to build cars in a factory in real time. Theoretical education defined as the tutorial teachings one gets from his/her class professor. Next, investment centers must be placed in all primary, secondary and university schools in order to drive creativity while simultaneously providing capital investment for creative and economic development amongst the student population irregardless of financial constraints. As you may know, to develop the Nigerian populace intellectually and economically, financial access is needed by those who deserve creative merits. Structures within schools must be organized and developed using this economic development creative model with access to funds that drive economic empowerment and creative consciousness at a young age, in teenagers and sustained in young adults. The economic and creative experience based revolution that this solution brings about will lead to an early focused consciousness on creativity rather that a latter development of rigid consciousness. For those who are Christians the bible says “bring a child in the way of the Lord, so that he or she may not depart from it.” As stated by Apostle Paul, creativity is man’s likeness to God and supported by God. Let creativity and creative merits become the way of life in the Nigerian state thus new markets become inevitable, and hope and dreams can now translate into real life action plans, more jobs creation by the youth and existing companies having a young, experienced, creative-merited and solutions driven workforce.
