Lol . The Supreme Court has proven times without number to be partisan and political . When people carry out jungle justice ,it is because they don’t trust the justice system . It is only a matter of time for full disregard for the rule of law to be in place. They too should feel powerless and useless . Although Emefiele na werey . But again that is the monster they all created

Story, as if the Supreme Courts judges are not human beings like him and part of the Nigerian system, we have heard cases handled by them and has mixed reactions to the public, we are all in this suffering together, if we need to make this sacrifice let's all do it once and for all

How did you arrive at the conclusions above? Do you have anywhere in the constitution to support your claims?

Pls what is a court and what is the role of the judiciary? Don't check Google.

How does the CBN having the sole responsibility of governing the monetary and fiscal policies of Nigeria exempt it from obeying supreme court decisions?

What is the sense in this statement below:

"The supreme court is not a financial institution and knows nothing about monetary policies"

The CBN could not have been a party to a suit brought before the Supreme Court in its original jurisdiction.

In its original jurisdiction, the Supreme Court only contemplates suits between:

1. States of the Federation and the Federal Government (or Federation) :

2. One or more states of the Federation against another state or other states of the and a state of the Federation (or states of the Federation;

3. The Federal or State Governments and any of (or both) the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament.

There is no room for agencies, ministries and/or parastatals of Government as they are all considered agents of the Federal Government whose presence is unnecessary for a suit in which the Federal Government (or Federation) is in itself a party. These other bodies can only come before the Supreme Court when it is exercising its appellate jurisdiction.

The judiciary in all fairness has been the sanest of the three arms of Government so far as it has not allowed its reasoning to be clouded by sentiments.

The order from the Supreme Court in this suit binds the CBN as if it were a party to the suit since its Principal has been restrained (with the subject matter of the order clearly defined). The CBN is thus bound to comply with the order (whether valid or not) until it is set-aside (for lack of jurisdiction etc).

It is disheartening that the CBN has confirmed in its statement what we had all secretly suspected; that it would disregard an order of the Supreme Court.

I expect their Lordships to address this issue of disobedience tomorrow.

In any event, the order lapses tomorrow and the Supreme Court has several options open to it.

It may;

1. Order parties to file all necessary counter-affidavits and replies (to the FG's Preliminary objection and the Plaintiffs' Originating Summons and Motion for interlocutory injunction) for adoption and a composite ruling/judgment on the next adjourned date; one which will definitely be after the general elections. In this case, parties will also be directed to maintain status quo until said date.

2. Hear the FG's preliminary objection on the ground that any questions as to its jurisdiction must be answered first before it proceeds to the motion for interlocutory injunction and the originating summons. Upon hearing parties on the issue of jurisdiction, it may reserve its decision on the matter until after the general elections with an order for parties to maintain status quo.

3. Hear and determine the FG's preliminary objection one way or the other. If it finds that it has jurisdiction, the scenario in 1 plays out (sans the Preliminary Objection) and the matter may be adjourned until after the general elections with an order for parties to maintain status quo. If it however finds that it lacks jurisdiction to entertain the matter, the suit will be struck out (or more likely dismissed even if it has not been heard on the merits in order to underscore the finality of the decisions of the Supreme Court) with heavy costs against the Plaintiffs.

Either way, the Supreme Court is not final because it is infallible, it is infallible because it is final.

We should all try to maintain the sanctity of our judiciary because it is the only institution standing between us and total anarchy.

that's why we need restructuring, a Nigerian President with bad intentions is too powerful and dangerous for democracy in Nigeria to thrive. That's why it's difficult getting Buhari to think otherwise. The powers of the Nigerian President need to be reduced through restructuring.

Nigeria needs to be decentralised to give more powers to states or regions

Absolutely.
Glad that Nigerians are finally waking up and maturing to the truth about democracy and the fact about Nigeria's.
Time that we all came to the realisation that chasing after individuals in the process of installing leaders is not the A-Z of democracy.
And that the history of Nigeria necessitates we prepare the ground before we plant the seeds if we desire to see a harvest.
We need to restructure Nigeria or elections and our democracy will remain barren activities.

At this point, I would rather have Tinubu win so that he can sack and jail the CBN governor & repeal this stupid deadline.
which joke of a supreme court are you talking about? Is it Same supreme court that stole Machina's legitimate mandate to contest as Yobe Senator and shamelessly handed it to the corrupt Lawan? Make una dey play.

This is one defiance I support wholeheartedly. Anybody and anyone gearing up to monetarily influence voters and steal the election should be stopped with any policy at disposal. Nigerians are not suffering as painted by the Media, I'm not suffering and I support this.

Those cowards in the NASS should as a matter of national security get off their balls and institute Impeachment proceedings against Buhari before the entire country goes up in flames. Buhari's blatant disregard for the rule of law needs to checked with immediate alacrity. Dem need treat him fvck up, this impunity is becoming something else.

But yesterday (2019) we were cheering the removal of the last assembly that had the desire to stand up to the Executive in preference of one that 'will work for/with the President', preferring 'cooperation' over 'confrontation' and thus deactivating the airbags in our vehicle as we sped recklessly along the highway of democracy without the seatbelt of a harassed and discredited Judiciary.

Now, can we see why citizens of other nations ensure the independence of their Judiciary and fight to have their representatives represent them and no other interests.

We will learn the workings of this democracy thing by the force of suffering.
That is sure.

How can anyone take the current supreme court seriously, when they award candidacy to those that never contested in the primaries. They themselves ignore the very law that they are meant to interprete and uphold.

A politicized supreme court that tries to arrogate to itself the powers of the executive, is no longer standing between us and anarchy, but standing behind and pushing us into anarchy.

But the same youth would readily knock Buhari for doing same. Is this how we want to have a "better Nigeria"? We seem to lose our senses and act all hypocritical when it comes to politics, most especially, political positions in favour of our candidate(s).
