A popular Igbo adage says: he who the gods want to destroy, they first make mad. I used to think that Tinubu is smart and Machiavellian but recent events have shown that he is either grossly overrated or has truly lost his senses due to dementia. I will explain:

Here is a man that won a highly controversial election, and worse still, has a sordid past. Instead of deploying massive olive branches and using every opportunity to douse tensions (considering the violence both he and his supporters unleashed on Nigerians that oppose him) he foolishly added fuel to it. Now the fire is gradually spreading, threatening the same country he wants to rule over.

Yorubas claim to be sophisticated in politics, but if what is happening in Nigeria now is anything to judge with, then I will say they're totally naive.

I dare say that Northerners are indeed very wise when it comes to politics. If Tinubu were to be a typical Northern politician, he would have hurriedly mend fences with the opposition. Now, North is watching with bemused astonishment as Tinubu ethnic irredentists are throwing stones at Igbos who are equally returning the favour.

Tinubu is furiously digging whole around himself. The likes of Onanuga and FFK are helping him to ensure he falls deep into the pith.

As the inferno rages, the only practical solution now seem to interim government or military intervention.

Who then loses?
